Tizoc is the standout grappler in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. While he embodies the typical wrestling archetype, this quirky fighter brings far more to the table than just bulk. With a variety of moves ranging from full-screen lariats to powerful anti-airs, this feathered fighter is a force to be reckoned with!
This guide will introduce you to all of Tizoc’s moves and offer useful tips on when to use them. Additionally, we’ll include some beginner-friendly combos to help increase your damage output. Soon enough, you’ll be soaring through the air and slamming your opponents down!
Tizoc Overview
As the grappler in City of the Wolves, Tizoc boasts an array of throws. Grabbing opponents is key to maximizing his potential. He has a powerful 360-degree throw ( + LP/HP) for dealing heavy damage at close range. Additionally, his Hercules Throw (
+ LP/HP) sends enemies into the corner, while the Artemis Rex (
+ LK/HK) allows him to rush forward and grab opponents.
Tizoc also features the Active Typhoon ( LK/HK), which can grab standing foes. The REV version of this move is quick, while the LK variant is great for countering aggressive opponents. His Icarus Crash (
+ LP/HP) snatches opponents out of the air. Moreover, his regular throw has a follow-up option for added damage (
or
+ LP/HP).
But Tizoc’s game isn’t just about grappling. He also has some powerful strikes for engaging with opponents at mid-range. Moves like the +HP Grif-Chop and the
+HK Grif-Kick are lengthy, impactful attacks that allow him to trade blows effectively. His Cr. HP serves as a fantastic anti-air against most angles.
On top of that, Tizoc possesses the Poseidon Wave close line ( LP/HP) to move across the screen elegantly, and the Olympus Over elbow strike (
LK/HK) works as an effective anti-air while also helping him close the gap. Tizoc’s speed is somewhat lacking, making these tools essential for maintaining offensive pressure.
When using S.P.G., you gain access to Tizoc’s REV Blow, a powerful leaping kick that covers a lot of ground. The aerial version features a diagonal dive attack. While neither is particularly fast, both deal significant damage and control space well.
Tizoc Command List
As detailed earlier, Tizoc’s move set is rich with throws, comprising more than half of his attacks. It’s advisable to practice these in training mode to get a feel for their range.

Tizoc Combos
One of Tizoc’s standout features is his ability to create combos. Impressively, you can link many of his grapples directly. Furthermore, Tizoc currently has an OTG (On The Ground) grapple, allowing you to follow up a knockdown with a strong grab. To execute this OTG, backdash, then immediately perform his Icarus Crash ( HP) while airborne from the backdash.
OTG means “On The Ground.” This type of attack can hit a downed opponent. OTG moves are relatively rare in 2D fighting games, although titles like Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 are well-known for them.
Combos For Tizoc
-
LK+HK >
LP+HP [in the air]
Using the REV version of Olympus Over as an anti-air will allow you to cancel into the REV version of Icarus Crash. Make sure to cancel on the second hit of Olympus Over for maximum damage.
You can also land a non-REV version of Icarus Crash after a jump following Olympus Over, though the timing is quite challenging.
-
+HP [fully charged] > LP >
LK+HK >
LK+HK
This combo is a fantastic way to extend a charged chop into substantial damage. You can even skip the chop altogether, resulting in a loss of 25% of your opponent’s health with just one jab.
Tizoc Tips And Tricks
Ultimately, Tizoc is a pretty straightforward character. Your main objective is to get up close to grab your opponents. When you’re right next to them, feel free to use your Justice Hurricane ( LP/HP). The challenge, however, is closing that distance. You can launch yourself forward using Poseidon Wave (
LP/HP), but be cautious not to be too predictable. Fortunately, if you hit the enemy, you can cancel it to lessen the risk if they block it, and you can also feint to bait a reversal attack.
In mid-range, Tizoc’s Artemis Rex ( + LK/HK) is your go-to grab. While the LK and HK versions aren’t particularly fast, the REV version can be a real headache for opponents to deal with.
Once you get close, be prepared for opponents to jump to avoid being thrown. Tizoc excels at punishing aerial opponents with the REV version of Olympus Over ( LK/HK). Cancel the second hit into Icarus Crash (
LP/HP) to inflict a significant chunk of health with a single anti-air move. It’s extremely effective!
If you’re feeling overwhelmed and can’t pull off the Olympus Over in time, Tizoc’s Cr. HP is a solid anti-air option.
After landing his LP Icarus Crash, Tizoc can always set up a Safe Jump. So, if you want to play mind games, you can trade a bit of damage for a safe jump setup by opting for the LP version instead of the HP.
