If you’re taking on the role of a magic user in Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree, you likely know the frustration of running low on mana during challenging battles. Fortunately, there’s a straightforward fix. Simply recruit the Alchemist, Alannah, to your camp at the Witch Tree.
This will grant you access to more powerful potions, keeping your health and mana replenished for the upcoming challenges. Plus, these potions are far more affordable than the expensive vials sold in Wickham Marketplace! Finding Alchemist Alannah
To locate Alchemist Alannah, you first need to complete Guard Commander Clayborne’s quest to unlock the West Gate. Then, defeat the Fang Executioner to obtain the West Wickham Key. After that, navigate through Gloomroot Woods to rescue her from the surrounding dangers.
This task is easier said than done, especially with a mini-boss in your path. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you find Alannah in Mandragora.
Unlocking the Ruins of the West Wickham Witch Stones
Start at the Wickham Marketplace Witch Stone and head left. Once you pass through the West Gate, defeat any enemies that appear and keep advancing. Soon, you’ll encounter a gate blocked by red tree roots. Destroy this root to clear your path.
Continue until you reach a glowing sewer entrance near the Ruins of the West Wickham Witch Stone. You may also see a locked gate nearby, but it will remain sealed for now. For the moment, jump into the glowing hole.
Upon descending, turn left and defeat the slimes. Jump across the gap, then fight through tentacles, rats, and more slimes. At the end of the sewer, you’ll find a green Diagram for the Shattered Flamecore. Next to it, there’s a door. Open it and proceed inside.
You’ll immediately encounter a rat and a Gremlin. Defeat them, then climb the wall to reach the ledge. Watch out, as another Gremlin is waiting for you.
Ascend to the next level and push the box to enable easier access to the higher ledge later. Before you do that, head right to find an elevator. Ride it down, move to the right, and destroy the red tree root blocking the gate.
Open it to unlock a shortcut to the Fang Executioner starting from the Ruins of West Wickham Witch Stone.
Now, return and climb the box. Jump onto the ledge to reach the final floor. Defeat the Gremlin guarding the blue chest and loot it.
Once you’re prepared, jump down, go right, and pass through the gate. The Fang Executioner awaits you.
Defeating the Fang Executioner
The Fang Executioner can be a tough opponent, especially when he summons a clone once his health drops below 50 percent. Defeating him grants you the West Wickham Key and the Sanguine Kiss weapon. Here’s a breakdown of the Fang Executioner’s abilities and how to counter them:

Alannah the Alchemist’s Location in Gloomroot Woods
After defeating the Fang Executioner, head right and cross the broken bridge to reach a different building. Collect the Mandrake. There’s a lever nearby that lowers a ladder. Pull it and go down.
You’ll arrive on a floor with a locked door on the left. Behind it, there’s a green Diagram. To get it, return to the broken bridge, drop down, and interact with the green orb to receive the Diagram: Royal Sceptre. Then, drop down to the last floor to find a door leading back into the building.
Now, in the building, defeat the Gremlins and loot the area. Once you get to the lowest floor, move left and open the door to return to the sewer. Roll to avoid the thorny root above.
You’ll find a ladder with a glowing yellow light. Climb that ladder to re-enter the sewer entrance near the Ruins of the West Wickham Witch Stone.
Pass the elevator shortcut, defeat the reckless enemy rushing towards you, then approach the locked wooden door. Open it with the West Wickham Key, which you obtained from the Fang Executioner.
You’ll encounter two hooded enemies. Focus on taking down the one on the higher platform first, as he can heal both himself and the other one. Move left toward the glowing light, and you’ll arrive in Gloomroot Woods.
Navigate across the platforms and defeat the poison-spitting flower. You’ll notice two paths: one leads up and the other down. If you opt to go down, a Forest Giant awaits for battle. However, since your goal is Alannah, take the upward path.
Climb the ledges, dodge the thorny roots, and take out the enemies along the way. Eventually, you’ll come across the Diagram: Cornucopia. Drop down, head right, and you’ll locate a hooded girl in green collecting herbs.
As you approach her, four poison-spitting plants will emerge. These can be easily defeated, so don’t fret. After clearing the area, two stronger carnivorous flowers will attack. Defeat them, then talk to Alannah and invite her to your camp.
Be sure to climb the ledge on the right and gather the Naceaia. When you return it to Alannah at the Witch Tree, she’ll enhance the effectiveness of your Health Flask.
