Genshin Impact receives updates roughly every six weeks, bringing fresh content to explore. The most exciting updates include the expansion of the map with new regions, allowing players to dive back into the stunning world of Teyvat. In the version 5.5 update, the Atocpan region was introduced in Natlan.
While wandering through this area, you’ll spot a small island at the lower-left corner, where you can tackle a Secret Source Dragon puzzle that rewards you with a luxurious chest. To unlock this treasure, you’ll need to navigate through a maze and face off against a dragon boss.
How to Access the Maze Puzzle Area
Once you’ve unlocked the map in Genshin Impact, you’ll find a noticeable gap between the Atocpan mainland and the tiny island below. If you have specific characters, especially Furina, you can easily traverse this space. Alternatively, there’s a more traditional route to reach the island, located at the bottom edge of the area just above it.
Upon arriving there, you’ll see a dragon flying around the beach. You can use either Varesa/Iansan or transform into one of the Tatankasaurus on the beach and charge at the shiny pistons next to the dragon. After a few hits, you’ll be able to collect the exquisite chest on its back and proceed to the lower island.
How to Solve the Maze Puzzle
Once you reach the island, head toward the center where you’ll find another Secret Source Dragon in a large arena. Activate the puzzle by interacting with the mechanism located in front of the dragon. This will trigger a maze with your final mechanism visible through a gap to the right, but unfortunately, a barrier will block your path.
To progress, you’ll need to go left and make your way around. Pay attention to the various lights on the ground and pistons on the walls. Stepping into the lights will activate the pistons, shooting barriers your way that can deal considerable damage.
Follow the left path up, then turn right, and continue down while trying to avoid the lights as much as you can. Midway through, some lights will start to flicker in and out. As an alternative, you can utilize Varesa or Iansan to break through these pistons instead.
If you have a strong shielder, you could also just sprint through the maze, as the pistons’ damage is unlikely to penetrate your shield.
Once you interact with the second mechanism, the maze will conclude, and the boss fight will commence.
How to Defeat the Vagrant Secret Source Dragon Idol
In this battle, you’ll notice the arena’s walls as the Secret Source Dragon boss moves in and out while firing piston barriers at you. You have two strategies to defeat this boss:
- Use Varesa or Iansan and wait for the dragon to come down low before charging at its pistons. Throughout the battlefield, you’ll find crystals that can regenerate your Phlogiston and help you stay in Nightsoul mode.
- Another approach is to utilize the lights scattered around the arena. Step on these lights at the right moment to make the pistons shoot projectiles forward. Hitting the dragon will effectively reduce its health.
After conquering the Vagrant Secret Source Dragon Idol, you can claim the luxurious chest resting on its head, thereby completing this puzzle.
