When you first step onto the main land of Runescape: Dragonwild, your map will appear shrouded in fog, gradually revealing itself as you venture into new areas. Even from this obscured view, you can sense the map’s vastness, making it challenging to navigate between locations.
Fortunately, the game features a user-friendly fast travel system that doesn’t limit you to specific teleportation spots. Instead, you can establish your own fast travel points by using a Lodestone, which helps make the map much more navigable as your journey unfolds.
Runescape: Dragonwilds is currently available in Early Access, and its features are still evolving.
How to Unlock Fast Travel in Runescape: Dragonwilds
Unlike many survival crafting games, Runescape doesn’t have fixed fast travel portals that activate as you explore. Instead, you’ll need to create your own fast travel portals by unlocking the Lodestone recipe, which you can do once you acquire some Vault Core.
Once you’ve unlocked the Lodestone, you can easily build it from the first tab in the build menu under fast travel items. To construct each Lodestone, you will need:
- 32 Stone
- 20 Rune Essence
- One Vault Core
The first Lodestone should ideally be set up at your base, since that’s where you’ll likely teleport the most. When you go out exploring, it’s wise to carry extra materials for another Lodestone so that you can place it if you get knocked out or if your inventory fills up.
After placing a Lodestone, you can interact with it to bring up the map, which displays all the Lodestones you’ve set. You can teleport to any of these locations using a few Law Runes. These runes can be obtained by defeating enemies or by crafting them at the Rune Altar once you reach level 16 in Runecrafting.
How to Acquire Vault Core
Vault Core is an essential item needed to create Lodestones and is also one that you will use up quickly. To obtain these items, you’ll need to tackle various vaults scattered throughout the map, with one in each region. The nearest vault is located southwest of the village where you meet the old man who assigns you the main quest.
Inside these vaults, you can find up to three pedestals each holding a Vault Core. Fortunately, these items respawn rapidly, and the first vault in Temple Woods is the easiest place to farm them again. After defeating this vault, you can simply retrace your steps and grab all three cores once more within a minute.
