In Hello Kitty Island Adventure, you can create cabins throughout the island, welcoming many guests. As you strengthen your friendships and complete tasks for various characters, you’ll unlock the ability to invite even more visitors, some of whom can stay permanently.
One of the special visitors you can eventually invite to the island is My Melody’s Grandpa. The process to bring him in takes some time and requires certain conditions to be met. Let’s go over what you need to do to unlock him and establish a cabin for him. We’ll also cover how to make his stay permanent.
Friendship Requirements for My Melody’s Grandpa
To have My Melody’s Grandpa visit, you must achieve friendship level 18 with My Melody. Additionally, you need to have met at least two other characters in the game.
Once you’ve completed these conditions, he will be available to visit on a rotating schedule every four weeks. It’s a good idea to check the Visitors tab in the menu; this will show you his travel status. For instance, we noted that My Melody’s Grandpa would be arriving in two days when we checked.
How to Set Up a Cabin for My Melody’s Grandpa
My Melody’s Grandpa has a few requirements that you need to fulfill:
- Have 3 Rocky items
- Have 3 Volcanic items
- Have 3 Metal items
- The cabin must be located in the Seaside Resort.
While My Melody’s Grandpa is visiting, these items must be displayed for him to come. Once he becomes a permanent resident, you can remove them and decorate his cabin however you like. You can also move him to a different location at that time.
Rocky Items
There’s a wide selection of Rocky items available in the game. To meet the requirements, you can use three pieces of Rustic Furniture. These items can be bought from My Melody’s shop for various amounts of Feathers and Shinies, which are purple hexagons found in Gemstone Mountain.
It’s worth mentioning that the three Rocky items don’t have to be furniture; you can also display fish or critters like the Banded Spelunker or Frondhawk. However, we recommend sticking with Rustic Furniture as it helps fill the space nicely, and you may already have some pieces available.
A simple way to meet the requirement is by placing three Mountain Soundtracks, which require one Mechanism, five Feathers, and five Shinies to craft.
Volcanic Items
Next, you’ll need to showcase three Volcanic items. Just like with the Rocky items, these don’t necessarily need to be furniture. If you choose furniture, opt for items from the Tropical Furniture set. You can also find these at My Melody’s shop.
The easiest way to fulfill this need is to put down three Volcanic Souvenir Dolls. To make these, you’ll need one Fabric, one Woodblock, and five Obsidian Shards.
Metal Items
Finally, you have to display three Metal items. There aren’t too many options in this category, but you can find the following items:
- Ingot
- Microphone
- Sounds of Steel
- Volcanic Guitar
Since you can use multiple of the same item, placing three Ingots is a great choice. While none of these items appear natural in the cabin, you can remove them once My Melody’s Grandpa is a permanent resident.
How to Invite My Melody’s Grandpa as a Permanent Resident
To make My Melody’s Grandpa a permanent resident, you must increase his star rating to five. This can be accomplished by completing daily quests for him.
Whenever he visits, there’s a chance one of the daily quests could be assigned to him. Although it’s not guaranteed if you have other guests, don’t forget to check your daily quests when he’s around. There are five possible quest options with the following objectives:
- Climb to Icy Peak (simply visit; teleporting to the mailbox works best)
- Go to Cloud Island
- Craft Meditations on Resilience
- Craft a Volcanic Guitar
- Take a picture at the Caldera
Once his star rating reaches the required level, My Melody’s Grandpa will request to stay. When you agree, you’ll gain the freedom to decorate his cabin as you wish.
