The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered offers a range of captivating quests, including main storyline missions that can be approached in various ways. One notable quest, Blood of the Daedra, tasks you with locating a Daedric Artifact to present to Martin Septim for use in a ritual.
Be cautious: if you hand over a Daedric Artifact, you’ll lose it for the remainder of your playthrough. These artifacts are incredibly powerful, especially as you progress towards the later stages of the game, so think carefully before making your choice.
How to Begin the Blood of the Daedra Quest
You can initiate the Blood of the Daedra quest after finishing the Spies quest. Head to the Cloud Ruler Temple to speak with Martin Septim and inquire about his progress on the Mysterium Xarxes, which you obtained from the Mythic Dawn base.
Martin will inform you that one of the items needed to open the gate to Camoran’s Paradise is a Daedric Artifact. He’ll also suggest reading the book Modern Heretics to learn more about these artifacts.
Blood of the Daedra Quest Walkthrough
The Modern Heretics book discusses the Shrine of Azura. Reading it unlocks a quest log entry that requests you to visit Azura’s Shrine to find out how to secure a Daedric Artifact.
Fast travel to Lake Arrius Caverns, the location of Dagon’s Shrine, and then head directly north to reach the Shrine of Azura. Speak to Mels Maryon there, and after persuading him, he’ll provide the details required to initiate the Azura quest.
Upon completing the Azura quest, you will receive Azura’s Star, which can be given to Martin Septim. However, considering its value, it’s advisable to keep Azura’s Star instead of giving it away.
Azura’s Star can be used indefinitely to enchant or recharge weapons, making it highly beneficial for enchanted weapon pairs, unlike Soul Gems, as the game progresses.
If your goal is to wrap up the main story quickly, or if you don’t plan to use enchanted weapons later, then feel free to give Azura’s Star to Martin.
Best Daedric Artifact to Give to Martin
Any Daedric Artifact can be given to Martin to fulfill this quest requirement. The Saviour’s Hide is often cited as the best choice, as losing it won’t feel like a significant loss. You obtain this artifact by completing Hircine’s quest, available only after reaching level 17. Unfortunately, this is rather late, as Blood of the Daedra is an early quest.
Another excellent option is Namira’s Ring, which you can obtain by completing the Namira quest. This quest is accessible at level five, making it a feasible choice if you decide to keep Azura’s Star.
Namira’s Ring can deflect a small amount of physical and magical damage. While it’s hard to find a suitable replacement for this artifact, given your early-game options, Namira’s Ring stands out as a solid choice.
Finishing the Blood of the Daedra Quest
Once you acquire a Daedric Artifact, return to Martin Septim in the Cloud Ruler Temple. Speak with him to hand over the artifact, and he’ll respond with unique dialogue that reflects the specific artifact you’ve given him.
After this, Martin will instruct you to consult Jauffre while he continues deciphering the Mysterium Xarxes, marking the quest’s completion. You can then engage Jauffre regarding the main quest involving the Bruma Gate.
