When you think of Samurai, the concept of honor often stands out. However, not every Samurai in Assassin’s Creed Shadows embodies that trait—some, like Yasuke, stand apart from the rest. In the “Stealing Samurai” side quest, you’ll encounter a number of these dishonorable figures.
This quest involves assisting a local who has suffered at the hands of the Samurai in her area. As a result of your efforts, you can expect to earn a good deal of money and resources. Defeating these Samurai can be tough, as you’ll need to take down quite a few to complete the quest. Here’s how to find and finish the “Stealing Samurai” quest in AC Shadows.
How to Start “Stealing Samurai”
You can kick off the quest with either character. Head northeast of the Hideout into the Yamato region. You’ll find the quest south of Koriyama and north of Katsuragi. It’s hard to miss; the Weary Farmer who gives you the quest will try to flag you down as you pass her home.
Talk to the Weary Farmer, and she’ll explain how Samurai have been causing trouble for her and the local community. When you offer your help, the quest begins. In total, you’ll need to defeat 100 Samurai to complete it, which is tracked in the People of Yamato objective board and divided into three parts:
- The first part requires you to defeat 25 Samurai, earning you 500 EXP and 750 Mon.
- The second part involves taking out another 25 Samurai, bringing the total to 50, which rewards you with 500 more EXP, 375 hemp cloth, and leather.
- Lastly, for eliminating all 100 Samurai, you’ll receive another 750 EXP, along with 300 Tamahagane and Ironsand.
Yamato Samurai Locations
Fortunately, you don’t need to specifically kill 100 Samurai Daisho for this quest; any enemies found around castles and temples will count.
Samurai can be found in castles and temples, so taking out guards in these areas will also help you toward your goal. You might also encounter Samurai while traveling on the peaceful countryside roads of Yamato.
Some specific locations where you can find Samurai guards include:
- Uda Matsuyama (1)
- Kofukuji Temple (2)
- Koriyama Castle (3)
- Uda Lumber Storage (4)
- Takatori Castle Ruins (5)
Keep in mind that only Samurai defeated in the Yamato region will count toward the quest, so stick to this area while completing it.
The best way to find Samurai is to explore the map and complete the viewpoints, revealing areas with enemies. Look for red diamonds on the map; most of them will be Samurai. After visiting the known areas, retrace your steps to find more foes.
For combat, both Naoe and Yasuke have their advantages, so choose according to your preferred style:
- If you’re at a high enough level and prefer stealth, use Naoe.
- If you’re at a lower level and need to engage directly, Yasuke is your best choice due to his superior base stats and weapons.
How to Complete “Stealing Samurai”
After finishing the third objective of the Stealing Samurai quest, head back to the Weary Farmer. Speak with her to inform her that the Samurai trouble has been resolved. In gratitude, she will reward you with gold and 2,000 Mon.
