At first glance, Beyblade X might seem like just a bunch of spinning tops crashing into each other. However, it’s actually a game filled with strategy, where players carefully select their Beyblades and their types to effectively counter their opponents.
Beyblades fall into one of four categories: Attack, Defense, Stamina, and Balance. Understanding how these types interact with one another is crucial for assembling your best setup and defeating your rival.

Defense
True to their name, Attack Beyblades are designed for aggression, aiming to achieve victory by knocking out or bursting the opposing Beyblade. They often move in unpredictable ways and can charge into strikes from the edges of the arena. Because they engage in constant collisions, Attack types are built with a high burst resistance.
However, Attack Beyblades struggle with stamina. If they can’t take down their opponent quickly, the repeated impacts along with hitting the arena’s edges can deplete their spin. They might even knock themselves out if they miscalculate their target, making battles with Attack Beyblades fast-paced.
Try launching Attack Beyblades at an angle to increase your chances of hitting your opponent’s weak points for a burst.
For optimal performance, Attack Beyblades should be shorter than average. Using 60mm ratchets allows you to stay low enough to strike larger, heavier Defense-type Beyblades. Additionally, a wider design helps with the circling motion Attack Beyblades need, so consider using bits like Gear Flat, Flat, Rush, or Low-Flat.

Stamina Beyblades are often seen as some of the top performers in Beyblade X. They adopt a more patient approach, focusing on spinning longer than their opponents.
These Beyblades tend to be bigger than average, with most of their weight distributed on the outer edges. This design helps them maintain their spin for extended periods. However, it also means they can be vulnerable to aggressive Beys.
During a match, a Stamina Beyblade usually remains stationary in the middle of the arena. It will only venture to the edges if struck, conserving energy while waiting for its opponent to tire.
Launch Stamina Beyblades as flat as possible to minimize unnecessary swaying that could slow them down.
Due to their weakness against Attack types and their low burst resistance, it’s advisable to pair a Stamina Beyblade with a thin ratchet. Opt for either a ratchet with a high point count, like 9-60, or one with very few points, such as 1-60, as these are less prone to bursting.
Stamina bits often take on a ball shape to enhance stability and reduce drag on the arena floor. Quality options include Ball and Orb, while Disk-Ball is popular for its added stability thanks to its larger disc.

Stamina
Defense Beyblades excel at absorbing hits. Unlike Stamina Beys that secure victory simply by lasting longer, Defense types take damage, draining the opponent’s spin with each contact.
Typically, Defense Beyblades are taller than the other categories, often using ratchets of 70mm or 80mm. This height contributes to their low burst resistance but helps them realign when knocked off balance.
For Defense builds, narrow points are preferred since they allow for greater movement during impact. Bits like Needle, Spike, Gear-Needle, and Dot are commonly used, although Defense configurations sometimes incorporate Balance bits, such as Hexa.
Unfortunately, Defense Beyblades are often viewed as the weakest type. They frequently falter against the highly popular Stamina Beys, and their low burst resistance contradicts the expectations for a defensive setup. This makes it challenging for Defense configurations to perform well in competitive play.

Balance Beyblades represent the midpoint of the Beyblade spectrum, combining features from all three other types. They might possess the stability of a Defense build while maintaining the spin characteristics of a Stamina Beyblade, or they could strike hard like an Attack type while retaining the height of a Defense.
Despite the diversity among Balance Beys, they share a few common traits: they typically have a high burst resistance and their behavior can change based on how they engage with opponents. If they take a hit, they can rebound like a Defense type but they’re also capable of being aggressive like an Attack Beyblade.
This flexibility makes Balance Beyblades hard to categorize competitively. They often find it challenging to establish their own identity, particularly against Attack or Stamina types. However, Balance parts are highly sought after for their versatility, with items like the Hexa bit being a standout in Stamina builds, while Elevate has greatly enhanced the performance of left-spinning Beys.
