These energy cells can only be generated and enhanced through the Crystal Refinery feature in Zelda: TotK.
While the game features two Crystal Refineries, players can choose to bypass them entirely. These refineries operate differently from Forge Constructs, which we’ll clarify further along with guidance on locating and using the refineries.
Where to Find Crystal Refineries in Zelda: TotK
The game contains just two Crystal Refineries. One is positioned on the Great Sky Island, while the other is located on the ground below.
The first Crystal Refinery is tucked away inside a cave close to the Nachoyah Shrine, situated in the southern region of Great Sky Island. This shrine is also where players acquire the Recall ability.
While the shrine itself is hard to overlook, the nearby Crystal Refinery can easily be missed. If you happen to miss the first one, the second is much more straightforward to locate. After starting the “Crisis at Hyrule Castle” quest, head towards Lookout Landing, which serves as the main base for those searching for Princess Zelda.
Upon leaving Lookout Landing to the north, you’ll discover the second Crystal Refinery positioned slightly northeast. It’s nestled among some trees, but spotting it shouldn’t be too challenging. Speak with the Steward Construct present to activate the Crystal Refinery in Zelda: TotK.
How to Operate the Crystal Refinery in Zelda: TotK
The Crystal Refinery is always managed by a steward construct, who assists you in creating energy wells.
Each energy well, which appears as a small box, contains three energy cells. You need to provide the steward with 100 Crystallized Charges to create one energy cell.
You have the option to produce up to 15 additional Energy Wells, allowing you to stack up to 45 extra Energy Cells. This means you will require a total of 4,500 Crystallized Charges. With this abundance of energy cells, you can keep using your Zonai vehicles, like Hoverbikes, for extended durations.
