Eventually, one dialogue choice will reveal a heart pierced by an arrow; picking this option will lead to a romantic scene.

If you play with Canon Mode activated, however, you won’t be able to romance any of the listed characters, implying that Naoe and Yasuke may lack romantic skills in that mode.
How to Pursue Gennojo in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Gennojo is the simplest ally to romance in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as the interaction occurs during his ally quest:
- Initiate Gennojo’s questline by playing the Swords and Sake mission as Naoe.
- Rescue Gennojo during the Stolen Hearts quest, then select the “I’d like to embrace you” dialogue option to solidify your bond.
Afterward, you’ll proceed to Gennojo’s final mission, where you can invite him to join the Kakushiba Ikki, a decision worth making despite his somewhat annoying personality.
How to Pursue Katsuhime in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
In order to romance Katsuhime, Naoe must first recruit her. Here’s how:
- Begin Katsuhime’s ally quest by playing through the Letter from Katsuhime mission.
- Rescue her from execution in the quest called The Diary of Lady Rokkaku. If she is executed, the romance is off, so be ready to intervene!
- Carry her to safety and recruit her to the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Hideout to unlock her romance quest, The Jounin Pillow Book.
- Meet Katsuhime at the Jogu shrine in northwestern Wakasa, initiate a conversation, and choose the “Let’s find out” dialogue option to enjoy a romantic evening at the beach.
Katsuhime will then ask if Naoe wants to be with her forever. You can respond with a confident “Yes. Forever,” leading to another kiss, after which she gives Naoe the Kaiawase Shell quest item.
How to Pursue Ibuki in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Like Katsuhime, Ibuki’s romantic storyline begins after you recruit her, but there are plenty of flirtatious moments during her ally quest:
- Play the Ambush Interrupted side quest to meet Ibuki.
- Complete the Homecoming quest and then recruit Ibuki.
- Head to the Hideout to begin the Putting Down Roots quest, where you’ll need to collect blue anemone flower seeds found near the riverbank northeast of Kashiwara Manor in Iga.
- Bring the flowers back to Ibuki at the Hideout and select the “I want more than friendship” dialogue option to seal the deal with a kiss.
And that’s all the steps to romance Ibuki. Completing this quest also unlocks the Blue Anemone flora decoration for the Hideout!
How to Pursue Lady Oichi in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
To romance Lady Oichi, you’ll need to make specific choices since she’s not a recruitable ally but a main target:
- Complete all quests associated with The Mourner assassination target and begin The Wheel Unmasked quest.
- At the end of this quest, choose the “Spare as Yasuke” option to let Lady Oichi live, which unlocks her romance quest called The Wheel Turns.
- Start The Wheel Turns by reading the letter addressed to Yasuke at the Hideout.
- Find her in the town southwest of Azuchi, specifically in the Merchants’ Quarters. Be sure to select the “I miss your smile” dialogue choice to continue the quest.
- Travel to Okishima, the island to the northwest of Azuchi in Lake Biwa, and meet Oichi there.
- Follow the quest prompts and converse with Lady Oichi at the temple, then talk to her daughters around the island. Note that you can recruit Fuji-maru, a dog, to be a pet at the Hideout, but it’s often better to let him stay with Oichi’s daughters.
- Finally, during Yasuke’s last conversation with Lady Oichi, choose the “Let’s enjoy the moment” option.
After a fade-out, Yasuke will wake up alone the next morning, marking the end of Lady Oichi’s romance storyline.
Can You Pursue Multiple Romances Simultaneously?
Yes, you can pursue multiple romantic interests at the same time in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and there are no consequences or even indications of overlapping relationships. The romances available to Naoe and Yasuke are primarily casual encounters, so feel free to enjoy brief moments of intimacy without worry!
