Every now and then, a weekly Fortnite quest will require you to complete several tasks in one match. On rare occasions, you’ll have to tackle these tasks with minimal guidance. As the new season approaches, it’s crucial to finish any remaining weekly quests to maximize your XP.
Gathering a medallion and a boon in the same match may seem like a tough feat, but as long as you have an Outlaw Keycard, the boon part is taken care of. The medallion aspect is a bit trickier, but this season introduces Mortal Kombat characters, who drop First Blood medallions every time you take them down. You’ll need to act quickly at the start of the match to fulfill both objectives.
Challenge: Defeat a Mortal Kombat Character in the Living Forest
Obtain the First Blood Medallion
Medallions are scarcer than boons, so it’s wise to prioritize getting the former first. The simplest strategy is to land in the Living Forest (located just southwest of Flooded Frogs) and strike the Mortal Kombat dragon-themed gong, which will initiate a boss fight with a Mortal Kombat character (currently, you’ll be up against Scorpion). Feel free to gather helpful items before or after ringing the gong.
Defeating Scorpion will reward you with the First Blood medallion. This not only helps you complete half of the challenge but also enhances your weapon so that your first shot after reloading triggers an explosion upon hitting an enemy. If the Living Forest method isn’t your preferred choice, you can also find another medallion (and engage in a Mortal Kombat NPC fight) at The Pit location on the far right of the map.
Next Step: Acquire a Boon from a Nearby Black Market
Access the Backroom with a Keycard
Having an Outlaw Keycard is essential for this approach, as it allows you to enter a Black Market location, snag a Dill Bit, and complete the challenge. After defeating the Mortal Kombat NPC, head toward Magic Mosses and locate the Black Market building (either by referring to the map above or by spotting it below the "C" in Magic Mosses on the minimap). Once inside, go downstairs to access the Black Market area, then move behind the NPC named Joss. Unlock the backroom and drop down to the lower floor.
The first player to open the large chest located on the lower floor of the backroom will receive a Dill Bit, which can be exchanged for a Boon near Joss. You can either ascend the staircase or walk up to buy the Adrenaline Rush Boon, located just around the corner behind a pillar. The quest will activate immediately as long as you’ve acquired a medallion during the same match.
It’s worth noting that while this is one of the easiest ways to accomplish both tasks for this Fortnite quest, you can also complete the objectives using any medallion and boon found on the map. Occasionally, you might come across a boon through special chests or quests, giving you plenty of options if you want to take a different path.
Tip: Robbing a Vault
If you don’t possess an Outlaw Keycard this season in Fortnite, consider robbing a vault to obtain a Dill Bit. Afterwards, make your way to a Black Market to exchange it for a boon.
