70’s Robot Anime Geppy-X Returns with a New HD Release
The classic 70s-style mecha shooter, Robot Anime Geppy-X, has officially launched on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC as of July 16, 2026. It’s priced at $39.99 on the PlayStation Store, but subscribers to PlayStation Plus can grab it now for 10% off at $35.99.
This release marks the first time the game has been available in North America and beyond, as it was initially only released in Japan back in 1999. Over the years, Geppy-X gained a cult following thanks to its distinctive art style and soundtrack. Its design is heavily influenced by 70s anime, featuring soundtrack contributions from well-known anime artists. The game recreates the classic broadcast feel with time signals, opening themes, episodic content, commercial breaks, and over 8,000 meticulously hand-drawn animation frames.
The remastered HD version introduces a fresh visual upgrade, utilizing modern upscaling techniques to improve clarity. The in-game videos have been restored to the original 24 frames per second, ensuring authentic animation quality, alongside various enhancements.
