PS5 users have been voicing their frustration as a key console feature remains broken over a month after it was taken offline. The “Recently Played” and playtime tracking functions continue to be malfunctioning for millions, and despite this issue gaining attention in gaming news outlets, Sony has yet to issue any comment.

The problem with the Recently Played feature and playtime tracker first came to light through PlayStation LifeStyle, which is personal to me as I was affected. Since then, major media outlets have reported on the issue, but Sony still hasn’t provided any updates or solutions.

To summarize: a large number of PS5 owners can no longer view their recent game activity or trophy progress on the PlayStation App or the Recently Played widget in the Welcome Hub. Games played after May 2026 aren’t appearing on the PlayStation network, and some reports indicate the bug mainly impacts disc-based titles, though digital game players are affected as well.

Basic information such as hours played and how much of a campaign has been completed has vanished. As someone who regularly relies on the Recently Played feature, I can fully understand the frustration this causes. The problem continues to generate numerous threads on gaming forums and social media, with new posts popping up just within the last hour.

Sony could improve their communication with players, especially following recent issues with physical product production, but that’s a separate matter.
