Renowned Spanish actor Javier Bardem recently made a bold political statement at the 2026 Oscars in Los Angeles, California, advocating for a “Free Palestine” and calling for an end to the ongoing Israel-U.S. conflict with Iran.

While on stage with Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, Bardem wore a small “No to war” paper and a Handala pin, an emblematic symbol representing resilience and Palestinian identity. He has been a steadfast supporter of Palestine since Israel’s escalation on October 7, 2023.

Recently, Bardem joined the “Film Workers for Palestine” initiative, alongside 3,900 artists, including actors and filmmakers committed to boycotting Israeli film institutions and affiliated companies.

Javier Bardem’s Message at the Oscars: Opposing War and Supporting Palestine

Previously, Bardem appeared at the Emmy Awards donning a Kuffiyeh to express solidarity with Palestinians, condemning the situation in Gaza as genocide.

Furthermore, the actor shared with reporters at the Oscars that he was wearing a pin he had used back in 2003 during the illegal invasion of Iraq. “Now, 23 years later, another illegal war has begun, led by Trump and Netanyahu. I stand with Palestine,” he said.

Bardem also drew parallels between the current situation in Iran and the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, dubbed “Operation Iraqi Freedom,” which aimed to remove Saddam Hussein.

Actress Charithra Chandran, known for her roles in Bridgerton and Netflix’s live-action One Piece, was also seen sporting a pin advocating for a ceasefire.

On the red carpet, Bardem emphasized his stance: “I’m wearing a pin I used to wear in 2003 during the illegal war in Iraq. Now, 23 years later, another illegal war has started—led by Trump and Netanyahu. I also stand with Palestine.”
