Trump Says 'I Hate Taylor Swift' After Her Kamala Harris Endorsement

Washington: Former President Donald Trump unleashed criticism towards pop star Taylor Swift following her endorsement of his presidential opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.

In a pointed statement posted on Truth Social, Trump expressed his disdain, declaring, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” This outburst came a week after Swift voiced her support for Vice President Harris, coinciding with a presidential debate in which Harris faced off against Trump, organized by ABC News.

Swift stated, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.”

The singer took to Instagram on Wednesday, sharing a comprehensive message in response to the debate. She conveyed her intent to engage in informed voting, writing, “Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.”

Kamala Harris secured her position as the Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, primarily due to ongoing concerns about his age, especially following a lackluster performance in a prior debate against Trump in June.

Harris stands as the first female, first Black, and first Asian American vice president. Should she be elected, the 59-year-old Harris would make history as the first woman to hold the presidency. Furthermore, she is only the second woman ever to be nominated for the presidency by a major party.

Praising Harris, Swift described her as a “warrior” and a “steady-handed, gifted leader.” She emphasized the nation could achieve far more under a leadership characterized by “calm” rather than “chaos,” a subtle jab at Trump.

Swift elaborated, “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

In a lighter tone, she concluded her post by referring to herself as a “childless cat lady,” a phrase previously used by Senator JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, to mock Democrats.

Hailing from Indian heritage, Kamala Harris has a mother from India and a father from Jamaica, both of whom immigrated to the United States. She was born in Oakland, California, and is an alumna of the historically Black Howard University in Washington, D.C.
