Los Angeles: It appears that singer-songwriter Justin Bieber has felt the impact of the news regarding his first love, actress and singer Selena Gomez, who recently became engaged to American record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco.
Selena, 32, and Justin had an on-and-off relationship from 2010 until their final breakup in 2018, as reported by ‘Mirror.co.uk’.
The same year they ended their relationship for good, Justin moved on and married model Hailey Baldwin, with whom he shares a four-month-old son named Jack.
Despite both moving forward with their lives and seeming happy in their respective relationships, it has been suggested that the announcement of Selena’s engagement has left Justin feeling “stung” and signaling what many believe is the “end of an era.”
According to ‘Mirror.co.uk’, Benny, who has collaborated on music with both Selena and Justin, reportedly proposed back in August after dating for just over a year.
It seems the couple decided to keep their engagement private initially, as it coincided with the arrival of Justin and Hailey’s first child. Selena wanted to ensure her engagement didn’t distract from Justin’s big news or come across as competitive.
Last week, Selena publicly shared her engagement with her 423 million Instagram followers by posting a picture of her stunning diamond ring.
She captioned the image: “Forever begins now…” Although Justin hasn’t publicly congratulated Selena, sources have indicated that he hopes for her happiness. A source told the Daily Mail, “Justin is married and has a child now, but when he learned about Selena’s engagement, it did catch him off guard for a moment. It’s a clear marker of closure for them, even though they’ll never rekindle their friendship or romance.”
Selena and Benny began dating in June 2023, but they didn’t confirm their relationship until December of that year.
