The cause of death for Kaylee Hottle, known for her role in “Godzilla vs. Kong,” was announced on Wednesday, a day after she was involved in a fatal car accident.
According to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Kaylee Hottle, 18, succumbed to multiple blunt force injuries. Her passing was classified as accidental.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that multiple agencies responded to a deadly single-vehicle crash in Ijamsville, Maryland, just before 3 a.m. Hottle was one of three passengers in the vehicle.
She was transported from the scene to a nearby trauma center, where she was later pronounced dead, officials stated.
Preliminary investigations indicated that a 1995 Honda Accord, driven by a 19-year-old from Frederick, left the right side of the two-lane road and collided with a culvert.
Sheriffs noted that excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash. The driver, along with two passengers, was in the vehicle at the time. The driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. One passenger refused medical care at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging any potential witnesses with information to come forward.
Her father, Joshua Hottle, shared an emotional message on social media shortly after her passing. In a video signed in ASL, he described how her family was devastated and was at home mourning. He mentioned he was en route to Maryland to bring Kaylee’s body home.
He revealed that her heart gave out before she arrived at the hospital after the crash. Reflecting on her life, he expressed gratitude for the 18 wonderful years they shared and said they wished for more.
Before her breakout role, Kaylee appeared in commercials and advocacy campaigns aimed at raising deaf awareness.
Hottle played Jia in “Godzilla vs. Kong” and its sequel, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” portraying an orphaned girl who befriends Kong and communicates with him via sign language. She also appeared in a 2021 episode of “Magnum P.I.” and was slated to star in the upcoming thriller “What Doesn’t Kill Us.”
