Mumbai: Renowned singer Dua Lipa made headlines when she surprised fans with a mashup of her hit song ‘Levitating’ and the classic ‘Woh Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai’ during her concert in Mumbai, prompting a lively response from the artist herself, who remarked that she “had to” perform it.
After her electrifying performance, Dua Lipa took to social media to comment on a fan-made Instagram reel that showcased her memorable mashup. The video, shared by a social media influencer, humorously asked, “Did SRK come or not?” (sic).
In an unexpected turn, Dua Lipa responded, saying, “I had to, too much fun!!” (sic).

Dua Lipa’s performance at the MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex during the Zomato Feeding India Concert was a remarkable highlight, merging her tune ‘Levitating’ with ‘Wo Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai’, a beloved track from the Shah Rukh Khan film ‘Baadshah’. The mashup, a creation of DJ Ruchir, rapidly garnered popularity across social media platforms.
Recently, Dua expressed her admiration for the mashup, acknowledging that she had heard the viral version and was thoroughly impressed by its creativity.
In a rather different vein, Abhijeet Bhattacharya’s son, Jay, aired his grievances on social media regarding the mashup. He criticized the version for not crediting his father’s contributions to the original song, lamenting the lack of acknowledgment for artists in the Indian music industry.
“The issue is that nobody discusses it. What happened to ‘Woh Ladki Jo’ — Abhijeet?” he questioned in an Instagram story, pointing out that no media outlet had recognized the original artists behind the song.
He expressed frustration over the focus being on actors rather than musicians, suggesting that when Dua Lipa encountered the song, she likely associated it with its performers, not just the film. Jay emphasized that the true creators should receive recognition for their work, noting, “The song is titled ‘Woh Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai’ — Abhijeet.”
He concluded by highlighting that the song’s popularity is attributed to the legendary talents of artists like “Abhijeet and Anu Malik.”
