With Christmas just around the corner, kids (and adults) everywhere are eagerly jotting down their wish lists for Santa. But why just write a letter when you can chat with Santa himself through ChatGPT?
OpenAI Introduces Santa in Advanced Voice Mode
This holiday season, OpenAI has added Santa to the lineup of voices available in ChatGPT. Now anyone can have a conversation with Santa using the newly enhanced Advanced Voice Mode.
All the other voice options are still available, but who wouldn’t want to talk to Santa over the regular choices like Vale, Spruce, or Maple? Especially while Santa is around to chat!
To interact with Santa, just look for the snowflake icon on the right side of the prompt bar. Even if you only see the standard Advanced Voice Mode icon, tapping it should let you select Santa from the available voices.
As an adult, I couldn’t resist testing out the AI Santa for myself, and it truly is delightful. Expect plenty of “ho-ho-hos” and that familiar jolly tone we all associate with Santa.
I even asked this ChatGPT version of Santa if he was real, and received a merry response celebrating the magic of Christmas. I cheekily inquired about his weight, prompting a light-hearted quip about indulging in too many mince pies every Christmas Eve.
It’s Truly Enchanting, Even for a Forty-Something
I must say, I’m quite impressed by ChatGPT’s take on Santa. He sounds just like the man in red, brimming with cheer, and answers questions just as you would hope. However, I might personally prefer if there were a few fewer “ho-ho-hos.”
One minor drawback is that ChatGPT’s terms of service state that all users must be at least 13 years old. This means the young ones who would love interacting with Santa might miss out unless parents join in on the fun alongside them.
For now, ChatGPT’s Santa voice will be available globally until early January, after which he’ll be temporarily unavailable. However, this opens the door for more fictional character voices being added as seasonal surprises throughout the year.
