Overview
- The year 2025 will introduce a range of innovative AI tools aimed at streamlining the creative process, emphasizing specific and practical outcomes.
- Anticipate exceptionally high-quality AI-generated images and videos as industry leaders like Adobe enhance their AI technologies.
- Designers are increasingly embracing AI, especially in typography, with tools for AI font detection viewed as helpful rather than a hindrance.
2024 was a transformative year for AI advancements in creative software, and I expect that 2025 will build on that momentum, offering even greater benefits for designers and creatives alike.
The AI features that were unveiled in various creative software throughout 2023 and into 2024 ranged from gimmicky to experimental, and some have proven useful.
With most experiments now in the hands of users, I foresee that upcoming AI features in 2025 and beyond will focus on genuinely enhancing the creative workflow.
While the capabilities of AI are impressive, there are moments when one must question whether it should do certain things. Do we really need to transform our cat photos into royal portraits with a click? Probably not. And no one wants AI-generated humans sporting extra fingers. What we do want are tailored results that closely align with our prompts.
With major companies like Adobe, Midjourney, and Microsoft, among others with significant backing, I’m optimistic about seeing substantial improvements in creative AI tools.

The Quality of AI Generations Will Be Astoundingly High
Just like the improvements in useful AI results, we can expect a marked enhancement in the quality of AI-generated images and videos. Adobe has made strides in this aspect, particularly with Adobe Firefly model 3 rolled out in 2024, which already yields impressive results. In direct comparisons, images produced by Canva and Firefly often surpass those taken with my smartphone.
The quality of image generation is set to improve significantly, along with advancements in AI video tools, including Adobe’s video generation features in Premiere Pro. The expansion of AI capabilities beyond video will enhance audio, graphics, and text-based functionalities as well.
As a creative individual, it’s both fascinating and intimidating to consider how these advancements might impact jobs and hobbies in the future. Could AI potentially surpass human creativity and skill? Is that a future we truly desire?

Adobe Will Maintain a Strong Commitment to AI Implementation
In 2024, Adobe integrated numerous AI features into its suite of creative tools. Some of my favorite AI capabilities are found in Adobe Express, which mirror those available in Canva.
During Adobe Max 2024, Adobe’s annual conference, various new AI features were announced for immediate release or upcoming availability in 2025 and beyond.
Adobe has consistently been at the forefront of creative AI technology. Given its long-standing reputation as a leading provider of creative software, it’s not surprising that Adobe is also leading in effective AI capabilities.
In 2025, Adobe is expected to solidify AI video generation within Premiere Pro and possibly integrate it into Adobe Express as well, following its beta introduction in 2024. Additionally, we can anticipate more tools for vector generation, including the ability to produce multiple 3D perspectives of a flat vector created in Illustrator—a concept I find incredibly exciting.

Designers are Embracing AI
Monotype, one of the largest type foundries globally, recently reported that designers are becoming more accepting of AI technologies. Research conducted in partnership with Censuswide reveals that there’s a place for AI in the typography sector—a fundamental aspect of graphic design. An impressive 91% of surveyed designers believe that AI can be useful in their work.
AI font detection tools are available across various platforms, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Canva also offers robust AI capabilities for identifying typefaces, enabling users to edit text in images, even those using non-Latin alphabets. The use of AI in typographic design is expanding, as evidenced by Kittl, an up-and-coming Canva alternative that produces template designs for social media and apparel.
AI doesn’t always have to be perceived as a threat. Monotype’s research illustrates that many designers are open to integrating AI into their workflow. This optimistic view of AI suggests that 2025 could unveil fantastic tools that assist rather than replace designers. AI can complement the existing array of tools we utilize in our projects.
The integration of AI across our creative tools has sometimes been daunting, leaving many designers unsure about its implications for their careers or creative pursuits. However, now that we’ve navigated through the initial waves of gimmicky AI features, I’m confident that 2025 will reveal the true potential of AI tools and functionalities designed to enhance, not hinder, the work of traditional designers.
