Why do players embark on monster hunts in Monster Hunter Wilds? While there are storyline reasons, many hunt purely for the thrill of the chase. However, a significant motivation often revolves around the need for specific materials to craft the right gear. Most weapons and armor are designed with themes inspired by particular monsters, though there are some less obvious ones to discover.
Much like other games in the Monster Hunter series, Wilds features unique armor sets that can only be obtained through special methods, like collecting rare materials or completing specific quests. These sets aren’t typically advertised, but we’re here to guide you in uncovering each one.
What Are Secret Armor Sets?
Secret armor sets are exactly what their name suggests. The majority of the game’s weapons and armor are crafted from materials gathered from the monsters you defeat. In contrast, the hidden sets rely on rare materials that you may not even be aware of, which is part of what makes them secretive.
Once you acquire even a single piece of the unique materials needed to create these sets, they’ll be listed at Gemma’s smithy for crafting. Keep track of where you found these items; just one won’t suffice to craft the entire set. In addition to the hidden materials, you’ll also need extra, more common resources to complete the sets.
Some smaller items, like the Kranodath Mail and Comaqchi Accessory, can be unlocked simply by defeating smaller monsters, so they aren’t included in the list below.
Each Secret Armor Set and How to Unlock Them
In total, there are 11 secret armor sets in the game, each unlocked by discovering a specific rare item. This means a bit of luck is involved in even finding these exclusive sets. Let’s take a look at what they are.
