Marvel Rivals truly excels in its attention to detail, showcasing unique characteristics in everything from characters to environments. Each hero and villain comes with special interactions, and they often engage with the game’s arenas in creative ways.
A standout feature is the Recursive Destruction mechanic, introduced in Season 1, which allows players to alter the battle zones in unpredictable manners. Creating chaos on the battlefield is a legitimate strategy for achieving victory, and it’s essential for various missions.
What Is Recursive Destruction In Marvel Rivals?
Unlike regular destruction, Recursive Destruction lets you rebuild the affected objects. This feature brings new elements into play, effectively enhancing the map’s layout and how you navigate it.
You might find new cover where there was nothing before, or a new structure could emerge unexpectedly. Each match offers a slightly different map, creating unique situations. However, Recursive Destruction is not available on all maps; many areas simply allow for standard breakage, often clearing platforms or blocking exits with debris.
Some seasonal missions and events require you to initiate Recursive Destruction, so you’ll need to select specific maps to do this.
How To Trigger Recursive Destruction In Marvel Rivals
You activate Recursive Destruction by attacking a red-glowing destructible object until it is repaired. You can identify these objects using Chrono Vision (B on keyboard); look for a faint red glow with some lines around it. Once you spot one, focus your attacks until it transforms.
As of Season 1, only the Midtown map features structures for Recursive Destruction, so you’ll need to play specifically on this map to witness these effects.
If you’re looking to trigger it quickly, choose Quick Match (Midtown) instead of the regular Quick Match. This will ensure you play in Midtown, where you can complete your seasonal missions.
The large, damaged Iron Man suit located in the middle of the map is an easy target for triggering Recursive Destruction. If you’re having trouble, also look for various buildings on the map’s third section that can initiate this effect. Using ranged characters is the best strategy, as they can hit these targets from a distance. Don’t hesitate to ask your teammates for assistance—they might also be trying to complete these missions.
Furthermore, you can earn achievements related to Recursive Destruction, making it beneficial to activate this feature whenever you get the chance (if it doesn’t happen by chance). Additionally, it can significantly contribute to securing a win.
