In a recent announcement, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed the company’s ambitious goals for 2025. This follows Altman’s request for input from the public regarding their aspirations for OpenAI on his personal media account.

Altman’s outlined objectives prioritize the development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), placing it at the top of their list. Other goals include enhancing the capabilities of AI agents, improving memory functionality, extending context length, introducing a “growth mode,” enabling deeper research capabilities, refining the Sora interface, and offering more personalized user settings.

According to a report by The Information, OpenAI and Microsoft have entered into a confidential agreement that includes a definition of AGI. This agreement notably emphasizes evaluating success based on profitability rather than purely technical achievements. OpenAI acknowledges that the creation of an AI system capable of generating $100 billion in revenue is essential for it to be recognized as a realization of AGI.

Altman hinted at numerous forthcoming features that have yet to be disclosed, suggesting that the so-called “grown up mode” could be among them.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Altman expressed his optimism about the future of AI. He noted that the rapid advancements over the next 18 months could lead to transformative AI developments. Altman believes these changes will not alter core human motivations but will significantly impact the world at large.
