In Dragon Age: Inquisition, there are many valuable items to collect, including impressive armor and strong weapons. Among these, blank runestones might not seem as exciting, but they play a crucial role in enhancing your combat skills.
To use blank runestones effectively, you first need to find them. Unlike many items, you can’t just discover them while exploring. Instead, they’re available for purchase from specific merchants scattered throughout Thedas. Here’s a comprehensive guide on where to find these valuable runestones and how to utilize them once you’ve got them.
How to Obtain Blank Runestones
In the core game, you can find ten vendors who sell blank runestones. Here’s a rundown of each one:
Some merchants may not have specific names and are listed simply as ‘merchant.’ For easier identification, we’ve labeled them by their locations.

Uses of Blank Runestones
Blank runestones are essential for creating runes that enhance your weapons. First, you need to recruit Dagna, the Arcanist, by completing the “Acquire the Arcanist” operation at the War Table.
Once Dagna is in the Undercroft, you can craft runes at the Weapon Crafting station. Each rune requires a blank runestone along with different materials, which will allow you to customize your weapons for more formidable combat.
