In Act 1 of Fantasian Neo Dimension, if you remember, there was a rather intimidating chest tucked away in the back of the Maxi Toy Box. Perhaps you even dared to open it, only to be confronted (and likely defeated) by Eternal Holy.
This time, the challenge is different. Eternal Holy can now be fought and defeated, bringing a fantastic reward for Leo. However, be ready for a battle that may be tougher than you anticipate.
How to Start the Forbidden Chest Quest
To kick off the quest, simply return to the Maxi Toy Box after beginning Act 2. A marker will appear on the world map to show that a side quest is available there.
It has a recommended level of 47, but you might want to level up a bit more before diving in. Fortunately, there’s a Save Point and a terminal nearby the chest, allowing you to gather any materials you may need without having to venture far.
Battling Eternal Holy
Party Setup
This quest, along with the battle against Eternal Holy, becomes available as soon as you start Act 2. Before you challenge this battle, there are a few things you should take care of. First, you need to complete the Dark and Holy Elemental Trials to unlock relevant nodes on Zinikr and Cheryl’s Growth Maps.
The trials can be accessed after you first enter the Communication Network through Valrika’s Lab. The Holy and Dark trials are located north of Vence, which requires finishing the Echoes of the Sandsea quest.
During this battle, we will effectively have two teams, and it’s crucial that everyone is as strong as possible. Ez will serve as our main support for both groups, while Kina will take on the role of primary healer. Leo and Valrika will act as secondary attackers, with Leo using moves to debuff defense and attack, and Valrika applying Slow effects on the boss.
Here are some key skills to unlock before entering this battle:
- Leo – Fire Samidare +2
- Zinikr – Double Charge, Radiance Strike
- Ez – Quick All, All Potion L, All Potion +
- Cheryl – Darkness Strike, Double Charge, Concentrate
- Kina – Resurrection, Radiance
- Prickle – Barrier All, Revive
- Tan – Mystery Potion, Rudy Strike
- Valrika – Darkness, Slow (Piercing)
Moreover, focus on equipping your team with powerful Jewels. For Tan, give him the Crystal Quartz to negate the effects of the Mystery Potion, and he and Leo should wear a Ruby L. Cheryl should don a Ruby XL and a Diamond XL (which you should acquire from the Holy Trial).
For Zinikr, use an Onyx XL (from the Dark Trial) and an Opal XL for maximum strength. The rest of the characters can receive Jewels based on your preference. No status ailments are present to consider, so equip Jewels that enhance attack and defense.
This setup will provide you with two teams, Cheryl will take on Eternal Holy, and Zinikr will battle Eternal Darkness. As they switch positions, you should do the same to ensure that both characters are at full strength by the time they face their opponent.
Buffs are kept when you swap out a party member, allowing you to set them up in advance.
How to Defeat Eternal Holy
If you remember facing Eternal Darkness during your first visit to the Maxi Toy Box, you’ll find that Eternal Holy plays out similarly. They will first attack from a distance, then close in, pulling back after three turns. The main difference is that Eternal Holy uses Holy moves instead of Darkness attacks.
A significant change arises from Eternal Holy’s ability to summon Eternal Darkness. This doesn’t happen after the boss reaches a specific HP threshold; rather, it occurs following their initial retreat from the party.
Once summoned, Holy and Darkness will alternate positions, with one attacking from afar and the other up close. Eternal Darkness, however, is considerably weaker, boasting half the HP of Eternal Holy and lesser attack and defense. This is where our two teams become valuable.
While Eternal Holy is up close, bring in Cheryl to attack. After her action, focus on casting Concentrate and Double Charge with her subsequent turns, then swap her back out once Eternal Darkness approaches. The same strategy applies for Zinikr. As both bosses rotate their positions, keep your two party members active in the same manner.
Since the bosses inflict significant damage, you should only use Resurrection to revive fallen party members.
With Ez always available for buffs, the third position in your party should shift based on the situation. Use Prickle and Kina for healing and barriers, Leo and Valrika for inflicting debuffs on the bosses, while Tan can be utilized at opportune moments to unleash substantial damage with Rudy Strike.
And that sums up the entire battle. The arrival of Eternal Darkness might seem overwhelming at first, but once you recognize the pattern, you’ll handle them effortlessly. Keep in mind that you must defeat both bosses, not just Eternal Holy.
As a reward for this incredibly tough battle, you’ll receive the Tyrfing sword for Leo, which has the special effect of God Killer. That’s a tool for future use.
