In MySims on the Nintendo Switch, fishing is more than just waiting for a bite—it’s an opportunity to gather valuable rewards. Whether you’re hunting for Essences to power your next big task or just aiming to snag some odd items (how about a tire?), fishing is where the fun truly begins. However, you can’t simply cast your line and hope for the best.
To catch your prize, you’ll need to skillfully handle your bobber and try out different techniques. This guide will clarify how to fish effectively and ensure you get everything you need for your MySims adventure. Let’s dive in!
How To Fish
Start by heading to the pond in front of your house. This is the official fishing location where the mini-game takes place. Walk over to the dock and press ‘A’ to start fishing.
The fishing mini-game requires you to control your bobber using the right joy-con. As you cast your line, keep an eye out for circular bubbles forming on the water’s surface. To catch a fish, maneuver your bobber directly over these bubbles. Timing is crucial—when your bobber dips below the surface, quickly tap ‘A’ repeatedly to reel in your catch.
Sometimes you’ll need to move the bobber around quickly and in various directions. Try different movements to see which ones attract the fish and encourage them to bite.
As you fish, you’ll catch different Essences, which are vital for a range of tasks in the game like crafting or completing quests. The process of collecting these essences is automatic—you’ll find them immediately added to your backpack once you’ve reeled in your fish.
When you’re finished fishing, just press ‘B’ to exit the mini-game. Happy fishing!
