Financial analyst Dan Nystedt recently shared on the social media platform X that OpenAI is in discussions with Samsung Electronics about a potential collaboration to integrate ChatGPT into Samsung’s Galaxy AI system. This partnership would be similar to the existing arrangement between Apple and OpenAI.
Samsung’s recent implementation of Google’s Gemini model into its Galaxy AI raises the stakes; if the company decides to incorporate ChatGPT, it could pose significant competition to Google.
Speculation about a partnership between Samsung and OpenAI is not new. Earlier this year, reports indicated that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman visited South Korea to meet with executives from both Samsung and SK Hynix, discussing the potential development of AI-specific chips.
In contrast, Apple has already begun integrating ChatGPT into its iOS 18.2 beta update, enhancing Siri with AI chat capabilities. Users will be able to share PDF documents, text files, or images with ChatGPT for processing, following approval. The official release of iOS 18.2 is expected next month.
