As the Samsung Galaxy S25 launch approaches, other contenders often slip under the radar. Among them, the Nubia Z70 Ultra is shaping up to be a surprising rival that’s gaining attention. Recently unveiled in China, it is set for a worldwide release on November 26, priced around $635.
This smartphone boasts an impressive array of features, starting with its stunning design. Inspired by Post-Impressionist art, the Starry Night pattern on the Nubia Z70 Ultra outshines typical phone cases. However, its specifications are just as remarkable. The device shares its display technology with the RedMagic 10 Pro, achieving a screen-to-body ratio exceeding 95%. Notably, it features a 16MP under-display camera, allowing for a more seamless viewing experience compared to traditional pinhole cameras.
The camera system on the Nubia Z70 Ultra is also noteworthy, featuring a 50MP primary lens, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 64MP telephoto lens. While it holds its ground against the rumored camera setup on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung retains a slight edge.
In terms of display, the Nubia Z70 Ultra sports a 6.8-inch size, which is expected to be comparable for the S25 Ultra, with the possibility that Nubia’s device is slightly larger. It offers a refresh rate of 144Hz and a touch sampling rate of 960Hz, along with an impressive maximum brightness of 2,000 nits. Plus, its robust 6,150mAh battery supports 80W fast wired charging.
Powering the Nubia Z70 Ultra is the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, capable of accommodating up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. This configuration surpasses the expected maximum of 16GB RAM for the S25 Ultra while matching its anticipated storage capacity.
Although the Nubia Z70 Ultra was revealed today, fans in China will need to wait until November 25 to purchase it, followed by the global launch the very next day on November 26.
While it’s challenging to determine which phone excels over the other just by comparing specifications, both models present an intriguing competition. Early comparisons hint at a close race, but one aspect stands out: if the Nubia Z70 Ultra maintains its projected price point, it offers a significantly more budget-friendly option than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, all while featuring comparable specs. Our interest is definitely piqued.
