Mastering Mr. Satan in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Gameplay

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero boasts an extensive character lineup, even when excluding the various forms of Goku and Vegeta. With the addition of new characters from series like Super and Daima, we’re delighted to see that comedic characters like Mr. Satan also made the cut.

While he may not be the strongest fighter, beating opponents with the world champion is still achievable. Mastering his weaknesses and capitalizing on his rare strengths is key. Whether you’re aiming to play as Mr. Satan or simply expand your roster, this guide is for you.

Mr. Satan

Present Bomb

R2/RT + Triangle/Y

3 Ki Bars

Unblockable Rush Super attack that inflicts three-quarters of a bar of damage.

Mr. Buu Arrives!

R2/RT + Circle/B (when in Sparking Mode)

Full Ki Bar

Rush Ultimate attack that deals one bar of damage.

Damage values may change based on your opponent’s character.

In the game, Mr. Satan is recognized as the weakest character, which is evident in his stats and abilities. He has only two health bars, cannot fly, and uses rocks as projectiles, rather than Ki Blasts. Although these projectiles do cause damage and consume Ki, they are tough to control and offer little to no tracking.

Nonetheless, he begins matches with three Skill Counts and a full Ki bar, allowing you to utilize his skills or enter Sparking mode quickly, depending on your strategy. His Ki charge rate is among the fastest, enabling him to quickly recover Ki with any chance he gets.

Mr. Satan in Versus and Online Matches

Unless you’re aiming to make a statement, it’s usually not ideal to choose Mr. Satan in online matches, especially against similarly skilled opponents. Although victories are possible, his limited skills like vanish attacks and grabs put you at a significant disadvantage.

However, Mr. Satan fills a niche role thanks to his low DP cost. If you’re selecting characters for DP battles and you have only one point left, you’ll find that Mr. Satan is the only character available at a single DP point; thus, it pays to learn his moves.

Strategy

Once the match begins, your first move should be to activate False Courage. Although it might be tempting to start with Royal Raiment?! since you begin with three Skill Counts, doing so would waste your entire Skill Count on offensive buffs that are less useful, and you would miss out on the flinch prevention that False Courage provides.

Mr. Satan’s Skill Count maxes out at four, so even in longer matches, it’s best to avoid using Royal Raiment?!, as you won’t have enough counts to use many ultimates.

Offensive buffs may seem appealing, but the bulk of your damage will come from blast attacks, particularly Present Bomb and Mr. Buu Arrives!. It’s best to completely avoid using Dynamite Kick, as the risk of dealing no damage while losing three Ki Bars isn’t worth it.

Present Bomb

You can use these moves frequently because of his speedy Ki charge, which allows Mr. Satan to unleash multiple blast super attacks in a short time frame. Present Bomb is your main strategy for applying pressure to your opponent as it is unblockable and tracks exceptionally well, unlike many Rush Supers in the game.

Many players are unaware that Present Bomb is unblockable, so be sure to exploit this to your benefit.

While Present Bomb isn’t classified as a ‘speed impact,’ it can still be used to counteract your opponent’s Rush attacks. It may inflict less damage than Dynamite Kick, but it should serve as one of your primary tactics to respond to your opponent’s moves, aside from Energy Blast supers.

Mr. Buu Arrives!

Your most effective special move is, not surprisingly, Mr. Buu Arrives!, and you should aim to strike your opponent whenever the opportunity arises. In a race to obtain Ki, you often come out ahead, so feel free to let your opponent charge, as you can frequently interrupt them after activating Sparking.

The ideal way to set up your Ultimate is to engage False Courage right after entering Sparking mode, as you’ll need to combo them into a vulnerable position for Mr. Buu Arrives! to land. This move lacks the tracking ability of Present Bomb, so you’ll need to be more precise with your aim.
