Choosing the right Minecraft seeds can significantly enhance your gaming experience from the very beginning. When you start a new game with a specific world seed, you’ll spawn in your preferred biome—close to unique landscape features such as amethyst geodes and lush caves. The best Minecraft seeds can land you near villages, ocean monuments, and Nether portals as well.
To help you discover your ideal Minecraft world, we’ve compiled a list of the top seeds for both Java and Bedrock editions.
Best Minecraft Seeds for Bedrock Edition
The Bedrock Edition Minecraft seeds listed here come from the in-game seed options available during world creation. Each seed is excellent for starting fresh and lets you easily access new biomes and features. These seeds will create similar worlds across any platform running Minecraft Bedrock Edition, but may vary somewhat in the Java Edition:
Mangrove Swamp
Seed: 8531363911024590720
If you want to explore the new Mangrove Swamp biome right away, use this seed. You’ll spawn amidst a vast swamp filled with mud, mangrove trees, and waterways, alongside several other biomes. Frogs are plentiful here, making them great companions if you’re a fan of Minecraft’s latest features. Additionally, you’ll find a coastal village to the southeast and another village to the south, which should provide valuable resources for your survival. This seed is also compatible with Java Edition.
Deep Dark
Seed: -6778246788154565662
This seed drops you almost directly above an ancient city in the Deep Dark biome. You’ll start in a vast badlands forest located above a large dripstone cave. Head east approximately 100 blocks (rough coordinates: x=105, z=-3) to reach the ancient city. Be cautious—if you dig straight down, you’ll face multiple caves (including a lush cave) before hitting the ancient city at y=-50. Ancient cities can be challenging to navigate, so consider exploring the jungle biome to the east and heading southeast to a mountain ridge filled with iron and coal, plus a few emeralds! This seed also works on Java Edition.
Jungle Mansion
Seed: 165605352
Using this seed, you’ll spawn right on top of a jungle mansion. These locations can be tough to conquer, so make sure you’re equipped with decent weapons and armor. The advantage is that you’ll know exactly where a nearby mansion is for future visits while you establish your base elsewhere. Notably, the mansion’s prison cells contain Minecraft Allays! Free these adorable creatures, and they’ll help you gather items. Additionally, a ruined Nether portal lies just east of the mansion, potentially offering some loot to get you started.
Desert Village
Seed: 1738801
This seed spawns you in a compact desert village nestled within a large sandy desert biome. Plenty of water surrounds the area, allowing you to explore further by boat or venture south to find a badlands biome for diverse terrain. Southeast of the village lies a desert temple, and you’ll eventually come across a Pillager Outpost. Watch for a massive cave entrance north of the village, which could lead you to Minecraft diamonds quite early. This seed has also been tested on Java Edition, revealing that the village and desert temple appear right next to each other just south of the initial spawn point!
Jagged Peaks
Seed: 297
This short seed places you in the middle of a stunning mountain range. You’ll start on the edge of a ring of jagged, snow-capped mountains surrounding a lush crater valley. On the eastern side of this valley, there’s a convenient cave entrance to explore the mountains. If you’re courageous enough to scale the peaks, you’ll find ample sources of iron and coal. Venture west beyond the mountains for another sizable cave entrance worth checking out.
Best Minecraft Seeds for Java Edition
The Java Edition Minecraft seeds listed here will generate identically on any PC or Mac running Java Edition. However, these seeds will produce different results in the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft.
Forest Biome Mix
Seed: 875674386
This seed provides a wonderful blend of biomes right at spawn. You’ll begin in a standard forest biome, surrounded by savannahs, jungles, and plains. For Bedrock players, this is already great, but Java Edition players have even more to enjoy: a nearby beach with a buried shipwreck, a broken Nether portal to the southeast, and two sizable savannah villages—one to the northeast and another to the west. Plus, there are plenty of pumpkins around the spawn point. Be sure to explore these locations for fantastic starting gear!
Ancient City Below
Seed: 2046946448870621898
If you’re seeking straightforward access to a Deep Dark ancient city, this seed is a solid choice. You’ll spawn directly above an ancient city, allowing you to dig straight down through small caves (which contain some Minecraft copper) to reach the Warden’s territory. At ground level, you’ll start off in a flower-filled plains biome near forests, providing a good environment for beginners. From your spawn, head southeast to locate a Pillager Outpost, or go directly south to find a hillside village.
Massive Lush Cave
Seed: 8486672581758651406
Upon spawning with this seed, you’ll discover a vast dark forest ahead of you. However, behind you, a couple of openings in a towering cliff lead into a massive Lush Cave. Although illuminated with glow berries, the cave remains quite dark due to its size. Be sure to bring plenty of torches, which you can craft by mining coal from the nearby jungle mountain range. Heading further south from your spawn point, you might also encounter a jungle mansion!
Lava Lake Cave
Seed: -245875434
Starting on a somewhat ordinary forest and taiga island, you’ll notice a waterfall on your left leading into a cave. Enter the cave via the waterfall and bear right through the tunnels until you reach a massive lava lake area with waterfalls that allow for a safe descent. This cave delves deep, perfectly placing you for finding Minecraft diamonds. Check these coordinates for the precious gems:
- 198, -45, -367
- 131, -16, -373
- 189, -42, -305
- 150, -54, -325
There’s also plenty to discover above ground, including an ocean ruin and a ruined portal nearby. With vast oceans surrounding the island, it’s ideal for aspiring explorers.
Flower Forest and Savannah
Seed: 556386363986
For a lovely start in a scenic flower forest, this is an excellent Minecraft seed choice. You’ll spawn amid a beautiful flower forest that ascends a mountain, making it a prime location for harvesting honeycomb. Nearby, there’s an expansive cherry blossom forest, and if you head southwest, you’ll come across a village to aid in your early survival. Alternatively, moving northeast will take you into a drier savannah biome, where you can find a Pillager Outpost and another village.
Minecraft Seeds Explained
Minecraft seeds are numerical codes that correspond to specific worlds in the game. Each time you create a new world, a random seed number is generated that links to that particular creation. When you create another new world, you can input a seed code from a previous world or one you’ve found elsewhere—like those detailed above—and you’ll get a duplicate of that world. However, there are some limitations…
In Bedrock Edition, you can find your world seed by entering the selected world, accessing the Settings menu, and checking under Game Settings for the Seed code. In Minecraft Realms, only the Realm’s creator can view the seed. To manually enter a seed in Minecraft Bedrock Edition, follow these steps:
- From the main menu, select ‘Play’.
- Choose ‘Create New’, then ‘Create New World’.
- Under Game Settings, scroll down to the ‘Seed’ box.
- Click the box to type in your seed code or select the arrow to access the exclusive Bedrock Edition seed list.
For Java Edition, you can use the ‘/seed’ command in the chat to find out your world’s seed. To manually input a seed, follow these steps:
- Select ‘Single Player’ from the main menu.
- Choose ‘Create New World’.
- Click ‘More World Options’ to access the menu where you can type in your seed.
Keep in mind that to get an identical world, you need to use the same seed on the same edition of Minecraft as the original. Though terrain and biomes will generate similarly, structures are randomized in Bedrock and Java Editions. For example, if you create a world in Bedrock Edition that starts in a forest biome with a mountain and a village, entering that seed in Java Edition will likely still place you in a forest biome with a mountain nearby, but the village may not be present.
Also, remember that seeds only retain their uniqueness until the world generation algorithm is updated, typically during major updates. This means that using the same seed after an update will result in a very different world.
Now that you have access to some awesome Minecraft seeds, it’s time to optimize your gameplay even further with the best Minecraft shaders and textures!
