Slitterhead offers an engaging journey filled with unexpected twists that keep you invested till the end, especially in the latter part of its relatively long campaign. While many boss battles start to feel repetitive, the intense action throughout the gameplay still makes for an exciting experience.
One standout mission is Over Limit, which is particularly enjoyable before things take an even stranger turn. This mission features memorable moments that enhance the menace posed by the Slitterheads and their human-like abilities. Although it follows a familiar formula as other missions, its pacing and encounters deliver satisfying results.
Starting Over Limit in Slitterhead
In the Over Limit mission, you’ll find that Alex is a locked character, meaning you can only select a companion. We typically go with Edo for his impressive strength and the Burning Edge Skill, which further boosts that strength. Julee is also a viable option due to her Revive All Skill, which is invaluable in tough fights.
If you prefer another rarity, feel free to choose someone else. However, we believe that Edo and Julee are the top picks, especially when teamed up with Alex, who can dish out significant damage. The only character you might avoid is Blake, as having too many range-focused rarities can be less effective.
Defeating Lisa – Mimic Octopus Slitterhead
As the mission kicks off, you’ll confront Lisa – Mimic Octopus Slitterhead, who lets out a thunderous roar that grants everyone Poison Ward. This causes a moderate amount of damage over time, but it’s manageable.
Overall, this encounter isn’t too tough. Just take control of characters behind her, land some hits, and switch to a different target when she turns her attention to you. Combining Alex’s Blood Well and Bloody Blast will significantly chip away at her health, and the same goes for using Edo’s Burning Edge and Angel Step.
Be wary of one specific move: when Lisa flashes a bright red light, she’ll lunge forward to grab you. This attack cannot be avoided or countered, so it’s best to distance yourself immediately. Other than that, this battle should go smoothly!
Pursuing the Mysterious Woman
Defeating Lisa triggers a cutscene where a Mysterious Woman transforms into a Slitterhead and escapes, prompting you to give chase. She will leap to the rooftops, so utilize Blood Jump to stay close as she jumps to a large neon sign.
Use Blood Jump to access the sign, then pursue her until she halts and begins attacking, initiating another encounter. Employ Burning Edge to deal significant damage, knocking her down to half health before she changes into the Zebra Octopus Slitterhead.
Taking Down Zebra Octopus Slitterhead
Once she shifts into the Zebra Octopus Slitterhead, she’ll let out a roar, applying Corrosion Ward (Level 2), which greatly diminishes your Blood Weapon’s durability. Fortunately, this won’t pose much of a problem as you won’t need to rely heavily on guarding or parrying here.
We suggest staying behind the Slitterhead and focusing your attacks on its vulnerable body, stunning it much faster and dealing substantial burst damage. Additionally, using Edo’s Burning Edge—whether on himself or Alex—will help you take her out efficiently.
You’ll have faced several Zebra Octopus Slitterheads in prior missions, and this one is no exception, apart from the initial Corrosion Ward. Stay aggressive, utilize your skills, and continue attacking from behind to finish her off rapidly!
Following Lisa’s Trail
After that encounter, Alex will sense another trace of Lisa, leading you to follow it through the main streets and into back alleys. This will eventually bring you to an empty lot where you first met Anita, leading to an encounter with the Mysterious Man.
In this lot, you’ll encounter some lesser Slitterheads alongside the Mysterious Man Slitterhead. Alex’s Blood Well and Bloody Blast combo are perfect for clearing them out quickly. After your initial move, recover by absorbing blood from the ground, then wait for your skills to reload before using them again.
Defeating the Mysterious Man
You guessed it; the Mysterious Man transforms into another Zebra Octopus Slitterhead. This time, he applies a Poison Ward (Level 2) on you, causing ongoing damage over time. But don’t worry—you can easily overpower him just like before.
Activate Burning Edge and spam Angel Step to inflict serious damage, stunning him rapidly. While he’s stunned, keep the pressure on to defeat him swiftly. Even if you didn’t choose Edo, you can still utilize Alex’s Blood Well and Bloody Blast or consistently attack his vulnerable body.
The attacks here will be the same as before, meaning you can apply the same tactics you used in previous encounters. With both of your Rarities available, this battle should be simpler than the last!
Chasing Lisa Again
After conquering the Zebra Octopus Slitterhead once more, Lisa will reappear, prompting Alex to chase her yet again. You’ll pursue her into the main street where she’ll quickly create some distance between you two. You must stay on her trail at all times.
If Lisa escapes too far, a timer will count down, giving you under a minute to catch her, or you’ll need to restart the checkpoint. Use Bloody Well to pull her back and unleash your Blood Weapon on her, pushing her toward the center of the street.
Once she gets there, she’ll summon a wave of Slitterheads, which Alex can handle easily with his Blood Well and Bloody Blast tactics. After clearing them out, a cutscene will trigger, leading to the climactic battle.
Final Showdown with Lisa – Mimic Octopus Slitterhead
As expected, the final encounter pits you against Lisa – Mimic Octopus Slitterhead again. Unfortunately, it’s the same battle from the beginning of the mission. This time, she uses a Poison Ward (Level 2) instead of Level 1, adding a new twist.
You already know the strategy. Activate Burning Edge and unleash a flurry of Angel Steps, dealing massive damage right off the bat and stunning her immediately. Once she recovers, switch to Alex and use the Blood Well and Bloody Blast combo to finish her off.
It’s a shame this encounter isn’t more varied, but if you stick to the same strategy as before, you’ll defeat her in no time!
Over Limit Rewards
Finally, let’s talk about the rewards for clearing Over Limit for the first time in Slitterhead. You will earn 24 Skill Tokens that can be used to enhance any Rarity of your choice. Remember, these tokens are shared among all Rarities, so once you spend them, they can’t be transferred.
Additionally, you’ll unlock more “Talk” options after completing the mission, so make sure to check out all the new conversations before moving on!
