Ultimate Guide to the Pocket Lapras ex Event in Pokémon TCG

The Pokémon TCG Pocket Lapras ex event is now underway, offering players the chance to earn rewards and new cards by defeating solo battles against a variety of water-themed decks. To get your hands on the coveted Lapras ex card, you’ll need to showcase your skills by overcoming a deck that features it! But don’t be fooled—while the early battles are easier, the difficulty ramps up significantly in later stages, making victory challenging.

To help you succeed, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about the Lapras ex event, including the rewards, new cards, and strategies to tackle the solo decks and their associated challenges. Get ready to ride the waves of victory!

Understanding the Pokémon TCG Pocket Lapras ex Event and How to Conquer It

The Lapras ex event in Pokémon TCG Pocket is now open for participation and operates as follows:

  • New limited-time solo battles featuring water-type decks are available.
  • Winning each deck unlocks the next tier of difficulty, with a total of four tiers to conquer.
  • Victories in battles earn players promo cards, shop tickets, and shinedust.
  • Each attempt to battle in the Lapras event costs 1 “Event Stamina,” a special resource that regenerates over time. You can also use Gold or Event Hourglasses to speed up the recovery.
  • Each solo battle comes with optional one-time challenges that can earn you additional rewards in the form of Wonder Hourglasses.

Event Dates and Times for Lapras ex

The Lapras ex event in Pokémon TCG Pocket is currently active and will conclude at the following times, depending on your location:

  • November 17 at 21:59 AM (PST)
  • November 18 at 00:59 AM (EST)
  • November 18 at 05:59 AM (GMT)

At this time, there’s no word on whether the Lapras ex event will return in the future. The Lapras ex card cannot be found in the current “Genetic Apex” packs, so if you want it, make the most out of this event!

Tactics for Winning the Lapras ex Solo Battles and Challenges

Players can unlock four levels of Lapras ex solo battles: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert. Each level features variations of the same water-themed deck, complete with unique challenges.

When tackling the Lapras ex battles, we highly recommend using a Lightning deck because water-type cards (along with some normal ones in the Solo and Intermediate decks) are particularly susceptible to electric damage.

The Lapras decks aim to deploy high-damage “glass cannon” cards quickly, so slower decks may struggle to execute their strategies effectively. Cards like Golduck and Starmie ex can deal significant damage rapidly.

Optimal Deck for the Lapras Ex Event

The highly effective “Pikachu ex” deck excels in handling the Lapras Ex event. Here’s a suggested deck list. If you’re missing any cards, consider replacements that fit the overall strategy:

  • Pikachu ex x2
  • Zapdos ex x2
  • Zapdos x2
  • Pincurchin x2
  • Potion x2
  • X Speed x2
  • Poke Ball x2
  • Sabrina x2
  • Giovanni x2
  • Professor’s Research x2

The Pikachu ex is particularly powerful here, capable of inflicting up to 90 damage with just two energy cards. You can build decks without it, but it’s tough to find a better option for defeating the Lapras ex event.

If you lack these cards, consider using the Lt. Surge Rental Deck that you can unlock. While it may not be the best option, it can be useful in a pinch.

Rewards from the Lapras ex Event

The Lapras ex event offers a variety of rewards:

  • The first time you defeat any Lapras ex solo battle, you’ll receive:
    • Pack Hourglasses (amount varies by difficulty)
    • Shinedust
    • 1 Shop Ticket
  • For every victory in a Lapras ex solo battle, you’ll receive one or more of the following:
    • 1 random promo card from the list below
    • 25 Shinedust
    • 1 Shop Ticket
  • Optional challenges (battle tasks) associated with each battle reward players with:
    • Event Hourglasses (for Beginner/Intermediate)
    • Wonder Hourglasses (for Advanced/Expert)

All Event Promo Cards and How to Obtain the Lapras ex Card

Throughout the Lapras ex event, players can earn five promo cards:

  • Lapras ex
  • Butterfree (alternate art)
  • Pikachu (alternate art)
  • Clefairy (alternate art)
  • Mankey (alternate art)

These promo cards can be obtained through “promo packs” awarded for defeating solo battles in the event. A promo pack contains a single random card, which will be sent to your gifts inbox for you to open. You can earn multiple copies of these cards, so keep battling if you haven’t secured the Lapras ex card yet.

It’s worth noting that the Lapras ex card is the only card introduced by this event that offers unique mechanics. The other cards are alternate-art versions of existing cards; for instance, the Pikachu card won in this event will have a new design but will function identically to a standard Pikachu.
