This guide includes spoilers for Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Before the events of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Solas removed fragments of his painful memories and concealed them in six Wolf Statuettes. Players, through exploration in the Fade, can find these statuettes. Solas, regarded as the Elven god of trickery and rebellion, led a revolt against the Evanuris, the oppressive rulers of the enslaved elves in the Dragon Age world. Yet, the tales of the ancient elves extend beyond the creation of the Veil, much of which is found in Solas’ hidden memories.
A major location to explore in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the Crossroads, a significant area where many Eluvians intersect, as seen in the Dragon Age: Inquisition: Trespasser DLC. Within this space are the Eluvians that connect to various regions and faction hubs Rook will encounter throughout the game. Additionally, the Crossroads feature their own puzzles and exploration opportunities. To uncover all six Wolf Statuettes and the lore they reveal, players must thoroughly navigate through the Crossroads, battle several blighted champions of Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain, and recall some of Solas’ memories, both positive and negative.
Where to Locate the Six Wolf Statuettes
Gather Solas’ Memories from the Crossroads
Players can find five out of the six Wolf Statuettes in the Crossroads by eliminating blighted foes while clearing the gates. The sixth statuette is directly handed to Rook by the Inquisitor during a cutscene in the main story quest titled Something Wrong. These Wolf Statuettes are part of the Regrets of the Dread Wolf quest, which activates once Rook and their allies discover the initial memory sequence of Solas in the Fade, typically through The Labs Below or The Wolf’s Call.
Scattered around the Exploration Levels in
Dragon Age: The Veilguard are Fen’Harel Altars. When activated with the Lyrium Knife, these altars will indicate the direction of a hidden Wolf Statuette. The statuettes at these altars are positioned lying down instead of standing. Collecting them grants Rook additional Skill Points and is separate from the ones containing Solas’ past memories and regrets.
Finding the First Wolf Statuette
The first Wolf Statuette can be uncovered after finishing the side quest The Wolf’s Call in the Crossroads. After witnessing Solas’ memory while embodying one of his rebels, Rook can retrieve the first Statuette.
Locating the Second Wolf Statuette
To find the second Wolf Statuette, players need to defeat a blighted ogre champion located in the Crossroads, near the Converged City, after completing The Labs Below. After experiencing Solas’ memory associated with Ghilan’nain’s experiments, Rook can claim the second statuette.
Uncovering the Third Wolf Statuette
Typically, players will receive the third Wolf Statuette when the Inquisitor hands it to Rook in the Dock Town tavern, coinciding with the main quest Something Wrong. The Inquisitor will suggest that Rook return to the Lighthouse with the statuette to potentially uncover more secrets.
By collecting this statuette, players will unlock the ability to place them on pedestals in the Lighthouse, allowing the group to view Solas’ memories. At this point, players should be able to view all three memories they have collected so far.
Identifying the Fourth Wolf Statuette
A fourth Wolf Statuette can be discovered after defeating the blighted champion found at the Gate of Lost Ages in Dock Town. Players will access this statuette by progressing past the now-unsealed Gate and defeating a range of demons guarding it, which is hidden behind one of the Venatori’s crystal barriers.
To locate the Gate of Lost Ages champion, approach the Gate within the Crossroads. Upon doing so, the Caretaker will appear, providing Rook with the related Gate of Lost Ages quest, which players can follow in Dock Town. The blight blister is situated in the Lost Company Mine in Docktown.
It’s advisable to eliminate the drowned miners in the area first before destroying the blight blister and facing the blighted champion to avoid being overwhelmed. The enemies here range from Level 15 to 20.
Locating the Fifth Wolf Statuette
Once the Gate of Lost Ages opens, Rook should follow the Regrets of the Dread Wolf quest marker to the Heights of Athim region within the Crossroads and complete the Disrupt and Conquer memory quest to obtain the fifth Wolf Statuette.
Finding the Sixth Wolf Statuette
The final sixth Wolf Statuette is located behind the Gate of Faded Glories in the Crossroads. Players will unlock this during their journey through the main quest, so they will need to progress the main storyline in Dragon Age: The Veilguard to discover it.
Utilizing the Wolf Statuettes
Accessing the Dread Wolf’s Thoughts
Once Rook has gathered the found Wolf Statuettes from the Inquisitor, they can return to the Lighthouse and place the statuettes on the pedestals surrounding the library. This action will reveal murals painted by Solas, similar to those seen in Dragon Age: Inquisition, along the walls surrounding the main table in the library. These murals depict significant moments from his battles against the Evanuris and unveil memories filled with his deepest regrets. The entire team will assemble to witness each memory fragment and engage in discussions about their implications.
To unlock the opportunity to “redeem” Solas at the conclusion of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, players must collect all the Wolf Statuettes and their memories, ultimately obtaining the “Essence of Mythal.” Each memory viewed from the six Wolf Statuettes also grants a significant achievement within the game. Additionally, players stand to earn other powerful rewards by completing this quest and solving additional puzzles in the Crossroads, encouraging thorough exploration of this area to unlock various blighted gates.
