Essential Tips for New Players of Pokémon Pocket

Introduction to Pokémon TCG Pocket

Pokémon TCG Pocket is an engaging card-collecting game that allows you to build a stunning collection of Pokémon cards. As your collection grows, you can assemble different decks of 20 cards each, enabling you to battle fellow players or take on NPC challenges.

With countless cards, deck configurations, and cosmetic choices at your disposal, getting started can feel overwhelming. To help you navigate, here are some essential tips for newcomers to Pokémon TCG Pocket that will ease your journey.

Focus on One Pack Type

You can open one card pack for free every 12 hours. If you have Pack Hourglasses, you can continue opening packs. In the Genetic Apex expansion, you have three pack options: Mewtwo, Charizard, and Pikachu. While it might be tempting to mix all three, it’s more effective to concentrate on one pack type.

Each pack contains its unique card set, and building a solid deck frequently requires two copies of each card you wish to use. To collect all the necessary cards for potential decks, it’s smart to focus solely on one pack type until you have what you need.

Save Up Pack Points

Every time you open a pack, you earn five Pack Points. These points can be spent at the Pack Point Exchange to choose any card. Keep in mind that rarer cards will cost more Pack Points. It’s advisable to save your Pack Points to acquire an EX card that you need for a deck or valuable three or four-diamond cards.

In the Pack Point Exchange, if you select a card, you can also add it to your Wishlist. Any wishlisted cards showing up in the Wonder Pick will be marked with a heart, helping you choose where to invest your Wonder Stamina.

Build Your First Deck

Once you’ve gathered enough cards, it’s time to create your first competitive deck. If you’re new to Pokémon TCG, you might be unsure about competitive meta, which cards are effective, and how to construct a winning deck.

Luckily, you can find guidance by looking up deck strategies online; numerous resources from other players offer insights into successful decks and budget-friendly options. Alternatively, consider collecting cards from pre-made Themed Decks available in the Deck Missions tab, detailing the 20 cards you need to complete them.

Fill Out Themed Collections

Themed Collections are special missions where you collect specific groups of cards. For example, the First Choice Themed Collection requires obtaining any Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle cards. Successfully completing a Themed Collection awards you with various resources, such as Wonder Hourglasses, Shop Tickets, and Emblem Tickets.

Pursuing Themed Collections is a valuable way to accumulate extra currency, especially those that provide Hourglasses as rewards.

Get Missing Cards from Wonder Pick

Wonder Pick allows you to select a random card from another player’s recent pack opening. Each card has a 20 percent likelihood of being chosen, but the cost varies based on the rarity of the cards it can pull from.

In choices that include rare cards, you may need to spend three, four, or even five Wonder Stamina, with no guarantee of obtaining the desired card. It’s wise to consider the potential risks and rewards of each Wonder Pick decision since Wonder Stamina regenerates more slowly than Pack Stamina.

If you can handle the uncertainty of chance selections, using Wonder Pick primarily to chase EX cards may be worth it. Despite the 20 percent chance, it’s one of the best ways to acquire these rare cards, which can be hard to find in packs and expensive in the Pack Point Exchange.

Set Up and Share Binders

After reaching level six, you can create your own Binders, which are customizable collections featuring cards you choose. Binders come with a cover and can include any 30 cards from your collection. You may tag them with categories like Holo Cards, Favorite Illustrations, or EX Pokémon.

If you choose to make your Binder public, you’ll be able to receive likes from other players. For each like, you earn one Shop Ticket, with a maximum of five likes per day. You can also gain likes when another player Thanks you after utilizing your Wonder Pick or following a Versus battle.

Sharing your Binder is a fantastic method for accumulating daily Shop Tickets, which you can exchange for extra Pack Hourglasses or Wonder Hourglasses.

Upgrade Cards with Shinedust

As you continue to collect cards, you’re bound to get duplicates. Fortunately, these extras aren’t wasted; you can use them along with Shinedust to enhance your cards with a Flair.

You can earn Shinedust whenever you level up or receive a duplicate card. The quantity of duplicates and Shinedust required for a Flair upgrade depends on the card’s rarity. While adding a Flair doesn’t enhance the card’s abilities, it provides a unique aesthetic in battles.

Furthermore, upgrading your card’s Flair can introduce more vibrant effects, such as falling fireballs, dancing musical notes, twinkling lights, and many other creative accents.

By focusing on these aspects of Pokémon TCG Pocket, you’ll set yourself up for a rewarding collecting and battling experience!
