On October 29, Xiaomi Group’s Lu Weibing announced the launch of the new Super Xiao Ai, an upgraded version of the company’s AI voice assistant. This intelligent assistant has evolved from merely listening and speaking to being able to think, act, and engage with users in a more meaningful way, transforming from a basic “I’m here” to a comprehensive assistant that can see, read, write, operate, and show care for users.
Lu explained that the Super Xiao Ai is designed to be integrated into everyday life rather than just existing on devices. It will be embedded within the newly launched Surge OS 2, marking its transition from a simple voice assistant to a fully integrated ecosystem AI assistant.
Super Xiao Ai represents a major upgrade point in Surge OS 2, which boasts three key technological innovations: HyperCore, HyperConnect, and HyperAI. The latter is specifically linked to Super Xiao Ai. Lu noted that Xiaomi’s proprietary HyperAI end-edge-cloud AI subsystem is the foundational architecture for the company’s system-level AI capabilities.
This new system merges Xiaomi’s extensive model matrix of end-to-end cloud capabilities and enhances device perception and cross-device execution, all while ensuring privacy through an integrated computing framework. It seeks to enhance AI functions from the application layer to the system layer, empowering a wide array of ecosystem devices.
From a user experience standpoint, Surge OS 2 utilizes the multi-modal capabilities of AI to simplify user interactions, creating a seamless link between perception, understanding, and execution to assist users with daily tasks. The Super Xiao Ai is set to elevate the user experience by making these everyday actions more intuitive.
The official unveiling of the Super Xiao Ai, integrated within Surge OS 2, is scheduled for October 29.
