In Ale & Tale: Tavern, you’ve invested your hard-earned money into buying a shabby tavern located in an isolated area. Relying on your ingenuity and the assistance of your neighbors, your goal is to rebuild and transform this run-down place into one of the most beloved taverns in the region. But keep in mind, not everyone shares your good fortune.
To make your tavern flourish, you must collaborate with the merchant who operates outside your establishment. Occasionally, he will seek your help with various requests—often involving saving his friends from tricky situations. We’ll guide you on how to find the coachman in the forest and ensure he gets a proper meal quickly!
Where To Find The Guy In The Forest
When the merchant mentions a man and a wagon lost in the forest, it’s up to you to locate and assist him. There’s no map or tracker to guide you, so your only clue is to search in the forest.
You might think you should head into the wooded area behind the tavern, but actually, you should make your way towards the wheat fields located south of the tavern’s entrance. Proceed toward the windmills, then take the right path to spot the coachman sitting on a stump next to his wagon.
Speak with him to learn what happened and how you can help!
How To Fix The Wagon
Upon inspecting the wagon, you’ll notice it’s dirty and missing several essential parts needed for it to function properly. The wheels are completely gone, and there are no horses around to pull the carriage.
The coachman needs your assistance to retrieve everything necessary to fix his wagon. Local orcs have taken all his belongings, and he’s not equipped to confront them.
Where To Find The Wagon Wheels
Not too far from the wagon, just over the hill and closer to the windmills, you’ll discover an orc camp. All four wheels are hidden in this area, but you must deal with three orcs before you can recover them.
Be sure to bring health potions and your best weapons! You don’t want to face the orcs unprepared.
Here’s where to find the wagon wheels inside the camp:
- Behind a tree to the north. You’ll find one wheel behind a red and blue tent.
- On the ground near a red tent. There’s a wheel lying on the ground in front of the red tent on the northern side of the camp.
- Leaning against a red stall. Another wheel is south of the camp, resting against a stall with a red tarp.
- Next to a blue tent. The final wheel is located near a blue tent, in front of a weapon rack.
Once you’ve collected all the wheels, return to the coachman to give them back to him.
Repairing The Wagon
Now that you have the wheels, the coachman will ask you to fix the carriage. Equip each wheel and attach them to the empty axles.
You will also need to clean the wagon using your broom. There are ten dirt spots on the wagon: four on the left and right walls, and two on the back.
Once the wagon is clean, speak to the coachman again. He still needs a little more help before he can leave!
How To Bait The Boars
Since his horse has run off, you’ll need to catch a couple of boars to help pull his wagon. You can find boars scattered throughout the forest, but luring them can be a challenge.
While boars won’t attack you unless provoked, you’ll need to hit them with your sword or shoot them with an arrow to get their attention. Lead them back to the carriage, ensuring you don’t accidentally kill them!
Watch out for the boar’s charge, as they can hit hard and deal significant damage.
Once you have two boars near the carriage, they will be ready to help pull it. The last task is to restock the coachman’s food for the journey. He’ll ask for a barrel of beer and ten loaves of barley bread.
You have two options: you can brew the beer yourself or buy it from the merchant to save time. To bake the barley bread, you’ll need 30 barley and ten portions of water. Combine these ingredients in the stone oven and wait for it to finish.
Make sure you’ve got enough plates to carry everything, as you won’t be getting them back, and then deliver it to the coachman.
He’ll express his gratitude for the food and reward you handsomely for your assistance. Feel free to visit him and the boars whenever you like, but the quest concludes here, and he won’t require any further help.
