In Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll meet a host of beloved characters from your favorite Disney and Pixar films. Each character has their own unique storyline that helps them integrate into the village, enabling them to play an important role in the community. When everyone takes on the right responsibilities, the village flourishes.
Timon struggles to adapt to his new environment, but he’s quite curious about the little critters that inhabit the area. Assist him in documenting them and unraveling a mystery surrounding the valley’s villains. We’re here to guide you through the process to ensure everything goes smoothly.
How to Obtain the Recorder
Once you establish a level four friendship with Timon, you can embark on the "Curious About Critters" quest. Timon has a keen interest in the various critters roaming the valley and wants to learn more about them.
When you propose creating a documentary, Timon seizes the opportunity to gain some fame. To acquire the recording device you need, speak with Scrooge McDuck and Buzz Lightyear. Although neither has a device on hand, they provide instructions on how to make one!
Where to Find the Recorder Components
Scrooge and Buzz have unfortunately misplaced the components needed for the recording device in the Forest of Valor. Head over to that area and start fishing in the river. Look for orange bubbles in the water, as those are likely to contain the parts you need.
You’ll need to collect three components: the Rusted Recorder, Soaked Batteries, and Electronic Parts. After you’ve gathered them all, visit your Crafting Station to put them together.
With the recording device ready, return to Timon to show him your progress.
Which Critters to Photograph
After presenting the recorder to Timon, it’s time to kick off the documentary project and decide which animals around the village to photograph together.
Unfortunately, Timon isn’t familiar with the animals’ names, so you’ll need to interpret his descriptions to capture the right photos!
All Critter Photograph Locations
- An urban creature: Snap a picture of one of the rabbits in the Peaceful Meadow.
- A colorful reptile: Get a shot of one of the crocodiles in the Glade of Trust.
- A furry omnivore: Capture a photo of a raccoon in the Forest of Valor.
- A dark-colored critter: Photograph the grey squirrel in the Plaza or any other dark critter in the village.
- A talking dragon: Take a picture with Mushu. Though he’s not a critter, Timon is eager to learn about him too.
Once you’ve photographed all these animals, show the pictures to Timon. He’ll then ask you to photograph the houses of the villagers for his documentary. Make sure to capture images inside the following locations:
- Pride Rock
- Scar’s Cave
- Beast’s Castle
- The Cursed Cave on Dazzle Beach
You can skip the other locations and head directly to the Cursed Cave if you like!
When you get to the Cursed Cave, you’ll overhear Ursula and Scar engaged in a conversation about something mysterious. Be sure to eavesdrop, then report back to Timon.
Where to Find Each Poem
After sharing what you’ve learned about Ursula and Scar, it’s time to solve the mystery to thwart any villainous plans.
All Poem Locations
Explore each of their homes to find memories. Visit the Giant Willow Tree, Scar’s Cave, and Ursula’s House, gather the memories, and then present them to Timon. He noticed Scar and Mother Gothel at the Vitalys Mines and will send you to gather more evidence.
Once inside, take a photo of the two of them and listen to their conversation before returning everything you collected to The Forgotten. Thankfully, The Forgotten will clear everything up, allowing you to update Timon that the villains do not pose a threat.
How to Set Up the Slideshow
With everything almost in place for the show, you’ll need a projector. Bring 1,000 Star Coins to Scrooge McDuck to buy a Giant Projector, then position it anywhere you like in the valley.
As everyone gathers for Timon’s grand documentary, don’t forget to take a commemorative photo! Afterward, listen in as Timon discusses things with Scar before wrapping up the quest. You’ll receive the Giant Projector as a reward!
