Renowned Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik has stirred controversy with his remarks regarding Pakistan and its national airline, which has led to backlash from actress Mishi Khan.
Mishi expressed her strong views in an Instagram video where she took aim at Dr. Naik, pointing out that he was honored as a guest but still chose to criticize the country after his visit. She compared him to Indian poet Javed Akhtar, who also spoke negatively about Pakistan upon his return from a visit.
In her commentary, Mishi reacted to a specific incident where Dr. Naik mentioned carrying excessive luggage, stating, “You were granted a weight allowance of 500 kilograms, yet you tried to bring even more. Just because you were a state guest does not give you the right to exploit that privilege.”
She also commented on his negative remarks about Pakistan and his positive remarks about India, saying, “If you believe so strongly in India, perhaps you should just remain there and witness the realities of life for yourself. It seems unfair to enjoy our hospitality and then speak against us.”
Addressing Dr. Naik’s controversial views on women, Mishi expressed her disappointment, stating, “Hearing you speak about women in such a way is truly disheartening. It’s important to educate men properly. You should choose your words with more care and respect.”
Mishi concluded her video by urging the government to reconsider granting status and protocols to individuals like Dr. Naik and Javed Akhtar. She questioned the logic behind inviting guests who later disparage Pakistan, asserting, “If India is so wonderful, they should just stay there. Can’t we have some pride in our nation?”
