Set three years after Gi-hun’s triumph in the first season, season 2 finds him making a pivotal choice. Rather than heading to Los Angeles to reunite with his daughter, he abandons his flight and embarks on a quest to dismantle the games permanently. According to Netflix’s synopsis for season 2, “Gi-hun plunges back into the enigmatic survival game, engaging in another deadly contest alongside new challengers vying for the grand prize of 45.6 billion won.”
Returning cast members include Wi Ha-jun as Hwang Jun-ho, the Front Man’s sibling, and Gong Yoo as the enigmatic salesman who enlists contestants for the deadly game.
New faces in Squid Game season 2 include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.
The visionary Hwang Dong-hyuk returns as the director, writer, and producer for season 2. He made history as the first South Korean to win an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series with the premiere episode of the first season.
Catch season 2 of Squid Game on Netflix starting December 26. The series will conclude with its third season, set to premiere in 2025.
