Today, Apple has unveiled the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, stating that these models have been meticulously designed from the ground up to enhance the capabilities of Apple Intelligence.
The iPhone 16 introduces an innovative capacitive button located on the side to facilitate effortless photo and video capturing, referred to as ‘Camera Control’. Additionally, the Action button, which was exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, now makes its debut on the iPhone 16, replacing the traditional mute switch.
According to Apple, the iPhone 16 boasts the most robust glass available, effectively safeguarding the display against scratches. The standard model features a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Plus offers a larger 6.7-inch screen.
The new touch-sensitive Camera Control button allows users to press it to take a photo or slide a finger along it to modify the zoom level. Furthermore, Apple is rolling out exciting new visual artificial intelligence capabilities that can be rapidly accessed via the Camera Control.
The Action button on the iPhone 16 marks the introduction of this feature to the non-Pro models for the first time. Located where the previous mute switch was situated, users have the flexibility to customize this button for various functions.
Powering the iPhone 16 is the A18 chip, which boasts performance improvements up to 30% faster than the iPhone 15’s A16 Bionic chip. With this release, Apple is heavily promoting Apple Intelligence, a robust suite of AI-driven features that run on the device thanks to the A18 chip, in addition to capabilities that utilize Apple’s Private Cloud Compute infrastructure.
New features from Apple Intelligence will be introduced progressively, including advanced image generation tools like Genmoji and Image Playgrounds, automatic prioritization of notifications, and upgraded capabilities for Siri.
