According to the media reports, Russian police have detaiNED the Co-Founders of Nginx, Igor Sysoev original developer of Nginx and co-founder Maxim Konovalov.
Russian police have raided Nginx’s Moscow offices, Nginx is the world’s second most popular web server software. A copyright complaint was filed by the Russain email provider and internet portal, Rambler.
Above 30% of the websites in the world are run on Nginx. Websites like Twitch and Netflix run on the Nginx servers.
Igor Sysoev created Nginx back in the 2000s and made it open source in 2004, in 2015, he founded Nginix which was later acquired by F5 Networks for $670 million.
Rambler accused Igor created the software when he was working as a system administrator for the company, this is also shared on twitter. Rambler is claiming the copyright of its application.
Rambler also claimed that Igor worked on the Nginx project during working hours, to which Rambler is asking for 51.4 million rubles damage disbursement.
Back in 2012, Igor Sysoev while giving an interview to the Russian website claimed that he indeed worked on his project (Nginx) while working at Rambler during his free time.
The case against Igor has filed under part 3 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (which is the violation of copyright and related rights)

In the latest development, we have been contacted by Gus Robertson from NGINX who confirmed that the law enforcement officials visited the office and met NGINX co-founders Igor and Maxim and later the co-founders were Interviewed by law enforcement officials. Gus also told in the email sent to Maggie, a correspondent from Digital Phablet, that the Co-Founders were NOT arrested but only questioned.
